Inspector of Works – Signalling and Communications

Your impact

Jacobs is looking for an Inspector of Works (Signalling and communications), to join one of our Double Track projects. The successful candidate will work as an integrated member of the project team and be based on site in Selangor/Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

This role requires the successful candidate to

• Oversee daily operations on the construction site, ensuring that work progresses according to the project schedule.
• Ensure that the Contractor's work is monitored and carried out in accordance with the drawings and specifications.
• Ensure that all signalling and communication installations comply with project specifications, industry standards and regulatory requirement
• Work closely with RE/ARE and design teams to ensure that all signalling and communication systems are implemented as per the design.
• Contact the RE when substandard works occur, or variation is required.
• Build a trusted relationship with the client and contractor's project team.
• Place an emphasis on safe working and a high quality of delivery.
• Flag deviations when they occur;
• Attend site meetings if required

Here's what you'll need

As a key member of the project team, you will be expected to

• have experience working in a rail signalling and communications either on construction/design projects, or in the maintenance and operation of a railway;
• have a working knowledge of design, installation, testing and commissioning of signalling and communications of rail assets;
• be able to read and interpret technical engineering drawings;
• be a team player and be flexible to the needs of the project

The successful candidate is required to hold the following qualifications and accreditations

• Diploma or Certificate specializing in Electrical/Mechanical or equivalent.
• 3+ years of professional experience working on rail (signalling and communication) projects
• Registration with Board of Engineers Malaysia (inspector of Works)
• Possess own transport
• Get along well with others and be able to work with people at all levels;
• Be objective and persuasive, independent and self reliant
• Be responsible and have sound judgement
