Job Summary:

The Assistant Inventory Manager plays a crucial role in supporting the Inventory Manager in overseeing and optimizing the company's inventory levels, ensuring efficient stock flow, and minimizing carrying costs while meeting customer demand. This position is responsible for assisting with inventory planning, forecasting, tracking, and reconciliation, contributing to the overall efficiency of the supply chain.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Inventory Control & Accuracy:

  • Assist in maintaining accurate inventory records through regular cycle counts and perpetual inventory system management.

  • Investigate and resolve inventory discrepancies, identifying root causes and implementing corrective actions.
  • Support the implementation and adherence to inventory control procedures and best practices.
  • Monitor stock levels to prevent overstocking and stock-outs.
  • Planning & Forecasting Support:

  • Assist in developing and refining inventory forecasts based on historical data, sales trends, promotional activities, and market intelligence.

  • Collaborate with production, retail & marketing teams to understand demand fluctuations and supply constraints.
  • Reporting & Analysis:

  • Generate and analyze various inventory reports (e.g., slow-moving, obsolete, fast-moving items, stock turns, inventory valuation).

  • Identify trends and provide insights to the Inventory Manager for decision-making.
  • Prepare reports on key inventory KPIs and present findings as required.
  • Warehouse Operations Liaison:

  • Work closely with warehouse and logistics teams to ensure efficient receiving, storage, and dispatch of goods.

  • Support the optimization of warehouse layout and storage strategies for better inventory accessibility.
  • Assist in managing returns and damaged goods processes.
  • System & Process Improvement:

  • Support the utilization and optimization of the Inventory Management System (IMS) / Warehouse Management System (WMS).

  • Identify opportunities for process improvements within inventory management and contribute to their implementation.
  • Assist in developing and updating standard operating procedures (SOPs) related to inventory.
  • Supplier & Vendor Relations (Supportive Role):

  • Assist in communicating with suppliers regarding order status, delivery schedules, and discrepancies.

  • Support the evaluation of supplier performance related to lead times and order accuracy.
  • Team Collaboration & Training:

  • Support the training and guidance of junior inventory staff or warehouse personnel on inventory procedures.

  • Foster a collaborative environment within the inventory team and across departments.
  • Other Duties:

  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Inventory Manager or senior management.

Qualifications:

  • Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business Administration, Operations Management, or a related field.

  • Experience:

  • 2-3 years of progressive experience in inventory management, supply chain, logistics, or a related analytical role, preferably in a fast-paced environment.

  • Skills:

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.

  • Proficiency in Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) (e.g. Anchanto).
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel (VLOOKUP, pivot tables, data analysis) or Google Workspace suites.
  • Excellent communication (written and verbal) and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Knowledge of inventory best practices, forecasting techniques, and supply chain principles.
  • Ability to adapt to changing priorities and work effectively under pressure.
