Shift Technician (Mechanical) is responsible for attending to assigned service requests and supporting both preventive and reactive maintenance of mechanical systems within a facility. The role ensures safe, reliable, and compliant operation of mechanical infrastructure, including HVAC systems, chilled-water networks, pumps, compressors, mechanical plant equipment, and supporting systems. The technician also assists with minor project coordination and system improvement activities.

Key Responsibilities1. Mechanical Operations & Maintenance

  • Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on mechanical systems such as HVAC, AHU/FCU units, chilled-water systems, pumps, motors, compressors, piping, and mechanical plant equipment.
  • Monitor system performance to ensure efficiency and minimize downtime.
  • Respond to mechanical faults, conduct troubleshooting, and recommend corrective actions.
  • Manage and complete mechanical work orders within agreed service levels and KPIs.
  • Coordinate with OEMs, vendors, and contractors for specialized mechanical services.
  • Support minor mechanical projects, including equipment upgrades and system enhancements.
  • Ensure all mechanical activities comply with client requirements, statutory regulations, and applicable standards.

2. Vendor & Work Order Management

  • Monitor vendor performance to ensure timely and quality delivery of mechanical services.
  • Review and verify service reports, quotations, and invoices.
  • Develop and manage preventive maintenance schedules for mechanical service providers.
  • Coordinate daily mechanical work orders with contractors and stakeholders.
  • Support task allocation to technical staff for mechanical operations.
  • Arrange contractor documentation, including Job Hazard Analysis (JHA), Permit to Work (PTW), manpower submissions, and scheduling.
  • Ensure contractors meet safety induction and site compliance requirements.

3. Communication & Stakeholder Coordination

  • Maintain effective working relationships with stakeholders, service providers, and facility teams.
  • Provide timely updates, escalation, and coordination support for mechanical-related matters.
  • Minimize operational disruption through proper planning and execution of mechanical works.
  • Act as a point of contact for mechanical-related inquiries involving stakeholders, visitors, or guests.
  • Communicate progress, follow-ups, and closure of service requests.

4. Health, Safety & Environment (HSE)

  • Ensure all mechanical works are carried out safely and in accordance with HSE requirements.
  • Conduct Job Hazard Analysis (JHA) for mechanical tasks.
  • Support the implementation and adherence to onsite HSE procedures.
  • Ensure contractor compliance with Permit to Work (PTW) and safety standards.

5. Compliance, Reporting & Administration

  • Prepare regular reports covering incidents, system performance, and maintenance activities.
  • Support budget monitoring, cost tracking, and maintenance expenditure reporting.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives for system reliability and efficiency.
  • Train technicians and service providers on CMMS or maintenance management platforms.
  • Maintain accurate mechanical asset records, maintenance logs, and service schedules.
  • Support space planning and mechanical layout updates, including AutoCAD drawings, when required.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Diploma in Mechanical Engineering or an equivalent qualification.
  • Mechanical technician certification is an advantage.
  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in mechanical engineering, facilities management, or construction services.
  • Experience working in critical facilities or data-center environments (Tier III or equivalent preferred).
  • Strong technical knowledge of mechanical systems, preventive maintenance, and fault response.
  • Experience in technical reporting and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Familiarity with CMMS platforms and mechanical asset management systems.

Pay: RM6, RM8,000.00 per month
