Job Summary

The Actuarial Analyst supports the actuarial team in analyzing data, developing models, and preparing reports to help the organization manage financial risk and make data-driven business decisions. This role involves applying statistical, mathematical, and financial techniques to evaluate uncertain future events, such as insurance claims, pension obligations, or investment risks.

Key Responsibilities

  • Data Analysis & Modeling
  • Collect, validate, and analyze large data sets to identify trends and patterns.
  • Build and maintain actuarial models to forecast claims, premiums, reserves, and other financial metrics.
  • Assist in pricing insurance products, pension plans, or financial instruments.
  • Financial Reporting & Valuation
  • Support the calculation of reserves, liabilities, and capital requirements.
  • Prepare actuarial reports for management, regulators, and auditors.
  • Participate in financial forecasting, budgeting, and risk assessment exercises.
  • Regulatory & Compliance Support
  • Ensure actuarial analyses comply with relevant laws, regulations, and professional standards.
  • Assist with statutory filings and solvency monitoring (e.g., IFRS 17, Solvency II).
  • Collaboration & Communication
  • Work closely with underwriters, finance, data science, and product teams to inform business decisions.
  • Communicate technical findings in clear, business-friendly language to non-actuarial stakeholders.
  • Professional Development
  • Progress toward actuarial certifications (e.g., SOA, CAS, IFoA).
  • Stay up to date with actuarial methods, tools, and industry best practices.

Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Economics, or a related quantitative field.
  • Experience: 0–3 years of actuarial or data analysis experience (entry-level acceptable).
  • Technical Skills:
  • Proficiency in Excel, SQL, and actuarial software (e.g., Prophet, MoSes, or R).
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Familiarity with programming languages such as Python, R, or SAS preferred.
  • Certifications: Progress toward actuarial exams from SOA, CAS, or equivalent body preferred.
