Wood is currently searching for 2x Team Leaders (SES) to join our Consulting team based in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia on permanent staff.

This is a team leading practical consulting role combining hands-on, analysis and reporting. In this role you will demonstrate your technical interests, particularly resolving the causes and effects of vibration in static equipment and structures in process plants, including piping and instrument tubing. Working enthusiastically, you will provide engineering solutions and services improving the integrity, reliability and performance of our client's facilities.

Typical Responsibilities

  • Primarily assists Group Team Lead (GTL) and Regional Business Manager (RBM) with supporting team operations (coordination, manning, planning, etc) in addition to executing technical work
  • Acts as a key liaison between the technical team and commercial leadership (GTL, RBM), translating client needs and project discussions into actionable opportunities.
  • Collaborates closely with the GTL and Regional Business Manager to develop scopes of work and compelling proposals, providing essential technical insight to ensure solutions are well-aligned with client requirements.
  • Actively supports the proposal follow-up process, maintaining client communication and providing timely technical clarification to navigate queries and facilitate project award.
  • Champions a culture of commercial awareness within the team, mentoring members to recognize and escalate potential leads and growth opportunities discovered during project execution.
  • Ensures all team projects are delivered safely, on time, within budget, and in accordance with business and client quality standards.
  • Interacts with other Team Leads in ALO and broader Wood to foster a collaborative working environment, balance workload for team, client fronting etc
  • Promptly raises any potential team issues, roadblocks, risks, concerns with GTL for resolution
  • Encourages and drives positive behaviours for consulting best-practice including project management and technical execution practices
  • Encourages and drives an Inspired Working Culture (positive behaviours include encouraging collaboration, personal development, social interaction, etc)
  • Ensures team timesheets are submitted and approved on time
  • Assists with recognition of team members and communicates on to GTL, Manager, etc
  • Ensures team forecasts/pipeline are regularly updated supports team members plan BD activities
  • Communicates any issues/roadblocks promptly to GTL/Manager to get resolution
  • Drives compliance with business quality and risk management processes
  • Encourages completion of Perfomance Objectives/MySuccess conversations for team members
  • Seeks appropriate technical input for team in relation to deliverables such as proposals, reports, etc
  • Supports team members and encourages graduates and younger members of team to speak-up and get involved
  • Drives a culture of innovation, ideas, areas for improvement,

  • Engineering degree in Mechanical or Mechatronics
  • 5+ years of relevant engineering experience
  • Experience with piping vibration risk management (or similar)
  • Experience working in a consulting/client environment
  • Advanced problem solving and Root Cause Analysis (RCA) capability
  • Knowledge of business, organizational, and marketing aspects of business solutions.
  • Proven track record of delivering client projects within budget and on schedule.
  • Project management experience with a focus on administrative, commercial, and technical elements.
  • Successfully managed projects, adhering to budget and client requirements.
  • Conducted final reviews of technical reports and proposals to ensure top quality and standards
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to build strong team relationships
  • Commitment to Health and Safety in the workplace
  • Exposure to site work and flexibility to take on site travel to client locations throughout Asia-Pacific when required
  • Technically curious, and able to provide a customer focused service
  • Strong competency in English literacy, effective report writing skills, and computer proficient
