Estimator / Quantity Surveyor

DUTIES

1.Receive requisition for estimate from client in the form of:

• Details work specification (prepared by the client).
• Brief description without details (prepared by the client).
• Telephone conversation.
• Discussion in person.

• Site, onboard visit or inspection conducted by project.

• To prepare and present repair work specification (in cases no detailed or written specification are

received from client or requester).

1. To work out cost estimates on proposed work scope

2. Based on commercial tariff, government tariff or agreed contract rate where applicable

3. Based on manhour and material cost (on non tariff item).

4. Based on vendor/subcontractor's quote.

5. To source, enquire and obtain quotation, price from suppliers/vendors/manufacturers on materials and equipment.

6. Presentation of draft estimates.

7. To present draft copy of estimates for quotations.

8. To clarify/discuss and seek approval from management prior to submission to client

9. Prepare quotation with detail workscope/breakdown for approval and submission.

10. To prepare estimates for all additional work required for ongoing project/repair.

11. Monitor works in progress in order to have better picture of accessory works etc. Attend

progress/clarification meeting when necessary.

1. To prepare Post Estimate on actual work done immediately after receiving worklist from Shiprepair Department

2. To counter check subcontractor quote against workdone list to ensure all quoted items are captured/priced in the workdone list.

3. To assist response to any clanification from clients on the post-estimate/final bill for the repair works.

4. To perform any other duties as instructed by superior (Manager/Senior Executive).

5. To inform superior any difficulties/problems encountered the course of work.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Ensure timely submission of all tenders/quotations.
• Ensure a full, proper submission meeting client's requirement.
• Prepare an accurate costing of the tenders/works.
• Prepare a full and final repair bill based an worked list prepared by project.
