Optical Test Engineer

About the Role

We're looking for an experienced and detail-oriented Optical Test Engineer to join our team. You'll design and optimize test systems that validate and ensure the performance of our optical products — including lenses, lasers, sensors, optical modules, and photonic devices.

This is a hands-on engineering role where you'll work with advanced optical instruments, automation systems, and data analysis tools to safeguard product quality from design through mass production.

What You'll Do

  • Design, set up, and optimize optical test systems for performance validation and production testing.
  • Develop and automate tests for:
  • VCSEL and DOE optical efficiency
  • Far-field imaging and beam profile analysis
  • Active alignment of laser and lens modules
  • Fiber array alignment for photonic ICs
  • Privacy film color and prism flatness testing
  • Operate, calibrate, and maintain precision optical instruments (e.g., interferometers, OSAs, power meters, beam profilers).
  • Collect and analyze optical data (illumination uniformity, spectral characteristics, MTF, polarization, color coordinates).
  • Identify and troubleshoot performance issues, working closely with optical design, hardware, and quality teams.
  • Support New Product Introduction (NPI) and provide test guidance to manufacturing teams.

What We're Looking For

  • Bachelor's degree in Optical Engineering, Physics, Optoelectronics, or a related field.
  • 3+ years experience in optical testing, photonic measurement, or optical system development.
  • Skilled in CMM, OSA, power meters, interferometers, integrating spheres, and imaging test setups.
  • Familiar with Zemax, Code V, or Imatest for simulation and analysis.
  • Hands-on with data analysis tools (Excel, MATLAB, or Python).
  • Strong understanding of optics fundamentals (geometric, wave, photometry, colorimetry).
  • Meticulous, analytical, and proactive team player with strong documentation and communication skills.
