132kV Resident Engineer

Job Overview:

132kV Resident Competent Engineer cum Facilities Manager role at Data Centre, managing critical facilities operations and maintenance, planning and implementing related contracts and regulatory licensing management, reviewing customer reports, to meet challenging requirements and timeline. Overseeing the registration, maintenance, and operations of the 132kV,33kV,11kV, and LV installations at AIMS Data Centre.

Your Work Life:

• Oversee the installation, maintenance, and operation of 132kV systems and associated equipment.
• Ensure compliance with industry standards and safety regulations in all engineering activities.
• Provide technical support and solutions for any operational issues related to 132kv systems.
• Collaborate with internal teams and external contractors to ensure project success.
• Prepare and review technical documentation, reports, and proposals for internal and external customers.
• Conduct regular inspections to ensure optimal system performance.
• Act as a registered competent person under the Electricity Supply Act 447 & Electricity Regulations 1994.
• Ensure full compliance with all relevant electrical laws and regulations.
• Submit weekly Borang I reports to the Energy Commission (ST).
• Perform weekly inspections of 132kV installations and report to ST.
• Manage a team of chargemen and engineers on electrical systems and risk assessments.
• Manage and oversee daily operations and all maintenance activities.
• Ensure internal and external maintenance programs meet legal and performance standards.
• Equipped with knowledge and hands-on experience to understand DC design principles, data centre critical infrastructure, industry current best-practice, the up-and-coming technologies to thoroughly plan for any shortcomings and how the physical environment might affect this infrastructure.
• Liaise with TNB, NLDC, ST, and local authorities for switching, outages, and shutdowns.
• Communicate effectively with stakeholders and internal/external teams.
• Attend to power interruptions and breakdowns and assist in developing Emergency Response and Recovery Plans.
• Advise on design, commissioning, and optimization of electrical systems.
• Review electrical installations including:
• High/Medium Voltage: 132kV, 33kV and 11kV switchgears, transformers, relays, testing.
• Low Voltage: UPS, VFDs, MSB/ATS/AMF, emergency generators, power studies.
• Contribute to green initiatives through energy and system optimization.

A. Facilities M&E Operations

• Manage critical Data Centre Facilities operations, ensure all necessary M&E equipment are operating in good and well-maintained conditions via the effectiveness on developing, review and execute facilities operation SOP, MOP, EOP and PPM Planner.
• Manage and ensure for optimum M&E systems functional such as HT, LV, power generators, UPS, PDU, chillers, air conditioning system such as CRAC/CRAH, water pump systems, and the building fire protection systems.
• Key facilities personnel to manage and work closely with facilities operation teams and the other internal and external relevant stakeholders to manage critical facilities operations, to meet customer expectations and requirements.

B. M&E Equipment Preventive and Corrective Maintenance

• Ensuring in-house or outsourced technical personnel are carried out all operational and maintenance activities according to plan schedules and the agreement & manufacturer requirement.
• Responsibilities to manage and supervise vendors' performance.
• Coordinate manpower to support, record and close the Job Order request upon work completion, to update the requester completion of the Job Order request.
• Monitoring all works done by the vendors or contractors, chargeman and technicians to ensure work quality and performance without disrupting the critical data centre operations.

C. Reports, Documentation and Other Functions

• Managing, review and monitor the documentation such as facilities PPM master planner, actual execution, and service/maintenance reports systematically to ensure future reference and audit purposes.
• To manage and monitor timely updates, overcome issues related to work progress, incidents, and corrective or preventive maintenance activity.
• On-site support is required as and when there is operational support needed.

To be considered, you'll need:

• Degree in Electrical Engineering registered with BEM.
• Registered professional Electrical Engineer with BEM, including signing authority.
• Minimum of 5 years knowledge in Critical Facilities Management and 5 years of knowledge in 132kV operations.
• Registered with Energy Commission of Malaysia as a 132kV Competent Engineer (JEK).
• Strong knowledge in Critical Electrical and Mechanical equipment in Data Centres such as high voltage & generator operations, UPS, DRUPS, CRAC units, PDUs, Chillers, and Fire Systems.
• A motivated and organized professional that is insightful, thorough, and detail oriented.
• Strong analytical skills, meticulous, ability to analyze and determine the root cause as well as the symptoms of an issue.
• Able to work under pressure and independently, to meet the committed timeline.
• Able to demonstrate high work commitment to ensure facilities operations are in tip top condition. Flexibility on extended working hours and 24/7 on-call.
