Description

Preferred Experience: 

  1. Design or operations background with hyperscale, colocation, or enterprise data centers.
  2. Familiarity with sustainable mechanical engineering practices and emerging cooling technologies (e.g., liquid cooling, direct-to-chip cooling). 
  3. Experience working in fast-paced design-build environments.

Key Responsibilities:  

  1. Support the design, construction, and operation of mission-critical data center infrastructure.
  2. The ideal candidate will be responsible for ensuring high-performance mechanical systems including HVAC, cooling, and ventilation, while maintaining uptime and energy efficiency standards.
  3. Lead the design and specification of mechanical systems for new data center projects and retrofits, including CRAC/CRAH units, chillers, cooling towers, and air handling systems. 
  4. Conduct site assessments and review mechanical infrastructure performance across existing facilities. 
  5. Collaborate with electrical, controls, and architectural teams to ensure integrated design. 
  6. Review and approve mechanical design drawings, equipment submittals, and commissioning reports. 
  7. Develop and maintain mechanical design standards, specifications, and best practices. 
  8. Provide technical support for troubleshooting HVAC or mechanical issues during construction and operations. 
  9. Evaluate system performance data to recommend and implement energy-efficient solutions. 
  10. Serve as subject matter expert during construction, commissioning, and post-occupancy phases. 
  11. Participate in vendor selection and procurement processes for mechanical equipment. 
  12. Ensure designs and installations comply with all authority standards, local building codes, and company policies.

Qualifications: 

  1. Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering (Master's preferred). 
  2. PE (Professional Engineer) license is strongly preferred. 
  3. 10 years of relevant experience in mechanical engineering with at least 3 years in data center or mission-critical environments. 
  4. In-depth knowledge of HVAC and cooling system design and operation in high-density environments. 
  5. Experience with CFD modeling, energy modeling, and life-cycle cost analysis is a plus. 
  6. Proficient in AutoCAD, Revit, and mechanical design software.
