The CePIETSO-Certified Environmental Professional in the Operation of Industrial Effluent Treatment Systems - is responsible for operating, monitoring, and maintaining the Industrial Effluent Treatment System (IETS) to ensure full compliance with the Environmental Quality Act and the Environmental Quality (Industrial Effluent) Regulations.

Key Responsibilities

1. IETS Operation & Monitoring

• Operate the IETS according to Standard Operating Procedures (SOP).
• Monitor influent, process, and effluent quality (pH, COD, BOD, TSS, DO, ammonia, etc.).
• Adjust chemical dosing and process parameters as required.
• Conduct and record daily process readings.

2. Compliance & Environmental Control

• Ensure final effluent complies with Standard A/B limits.
• Perform sampling for in-house testing and external lab analysis.
• Maintain compliance documents for DOE inspections and audits.

3. Maintenance & Troubleshooting

• Conduct routine maintenance on pumps, mixers, blowers, flow meters, and sensors etc.

• Troubleshoot abnormal conditions such as:

• pH imbalance

• High turbidity
• Equipment malfunction
• Chemical dosing issues
• Coordinate with engineering/maintenance teams for repairs.

4. Reporting & Documentation

• Maintain daily operational logs and chemical usage records.
• Prepare monthly IETS reports and Environmental Performance Reports (EPR).
• Report any non-compliance, system failure, or pollution event.

5. Safety & Chemical Handling

• Handle treatment chemicals safely (coagulants, acids, alkalis, polymers).
• Maintain MSDS and ensure chemical bunds/spill kits are in good condition.
• Ensure compliance with OSHA, ISO14000, and internal HSE rules etc.

6. Any other function or job assign by the company.

Required Qualifications

• Valid CePIETSO certificate issued by DOE Malaysia.
• Minimum qualification of Bachelor Degree in Engineering.
• Basic knowledge of water/wastewater treatment.
• Ability to work shifts and respond to emergencies.
• Ability to lead, advise, provide guidance and manage a group of technician.
