About the Role

We are seeking a meticulous and proactive
Junior Accountant
to join our finance team. This position plays a key role in managing the company's day-to-day accounting operations, statutory compliance, and financial reporting in accordance with the Employment Act 1955, Income Tax Act 1967, and other relevant Malaysian regulations. The role is ideal for a candidate with strong analytical skills, keen attention to detail, and a drive to maintain high financial governance standards in a dynamic engineering services environment.

Key Responsibilities

1. Financial Operations & Record Management

  • Maintain accurate and timely financial records, ledgers, and documentation in compliance with company policies and statutory requirements.
  • Oversee data entry for invoices, receipts, payments, and journal entries in the accounting system.
  • Manage month-end and year-end closing activities.

2. Accounts Payable (AP) & Accounts Receivable (AR)

  • Prepare and process vendor invoices, payment vouchers, and staff claims.
  • Reconcile supplier statements, monitor outstanding payables, and ensure timely payments.
  • Track receivables, follow up with clients on billing and collections, and prepare ageing reports.

3. Financial Reporting & Analysis

  • Assist in the preparation of monthly management accounts, P&L statements, and cash flow reports.
  • Support financial analysis to identify variances and cost-saving opportunities.
  • Liaise with auditors and tax agents to ensure accuracy and timely submission of reports.

4. Statutory Compliance & Payroll Support

  • Ensure timely submission of EPF, SOCSO, EIS, PCB, and SST in accordance with statutory deadlines.
  • Maintain compliance with LHDN, KWSP, and PERKESO regulations.
  • Support payroll verification and ensure alignment with statutory contributions and deductions.

5. Budgeting & Internal Control

  • Assist in the preparation and monitoring of annual budgets and forecasts.
  • Maintain financial controls to ensure accurate and transparent financial management.
  • Support process improvement initiatives to enhance accounting efficiency.

6. Audit & Documentation

  • Prepare audit schedules, liaise with external auditors, and provide supporting documentation.
  • Ensure financial records are well-documented and retrievable for statutory and management purposes.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related discipline.
  • Sound knowledge of accounting standards (MFRS) and statutory compliance in Malaysia.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Xero, SAP).
  • Strong attention to detail, organisational skills, and confidentiality in handling financial information.
  • Ability to work independently and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Fluent in Mandarin.
