Commodity Manager

The identified candidate will be based in Penang, Malaysia.

This role has been designed as 'Hybrid' with an expectation that you will work on average 2 days per week from an HPE office.

Job Description:

Responsible for execution of commodity / category strategies worldwide. Executes company procurement strategies, policies and tactics required to achieve objectives. Ensures execution of procurement channel and category strategies in delivery of the company internal projects and 3rd party products/services when part of company customer solutions; purchasing and buying. Coordinates purchasing activities with engineering and manufacturing departments, strategic procurement, and company Business Units to maintain inventories at planned levels (where applicable), ensure assurance of supply, maintain service levels, meet business requirements, and mitigate risk. May include inventory management. At the non-exempt level, may assist with establishing and maintaining the production control system.

Works on complex problems where analysis of situations or data requires an in-depth evaluation of multiple factors. Acts as an expert providing direction and guidance to process improvements and establishing policies. Frequently represents the organization to external customers/clients. Exercises significant independent judgment to determine best method for accomplishing work and achieving objectives. May provide mentoring and guidance to lower level employees.

Responsibilities:

• Provides expertise for priority or new assignments with strategic implications across organization, such as leading or participating in cross- functional teams.
• Focuses on development activities and introducing new processes, program solutions and methods.
• Leads the development of program and/or process solutions to meet business objectives and deliver continuous improvements.
• Monitors and analyzes owned programs, process solutions, key metrics and process- oriented tasks and situations; focuses on improving current areas with significant independent judgment.
• Works across cross-functional teams to develop solutions as well as maintain and enhance current business processes, focusing on particular segments.
• Provides independent, strategic development and analytic and strategic support to drive organizational goals.
• Provides mentoring and guidance to lower-level contributors.
• Develops and executes strategic plans and initiatives across the company's businesses and/or geographies.

Education and Experience Required:

• First-level university degree or equivalent experience; advanced university degree preferred.
• Typically 6-10 years of experience in procurement or supply chain function.
• Global procurement experience strongly preferred.
