About the role

As a Sous Chef at the Pullman Miri Waterfront, you will be an integral part of the culinary team, assisting the Executive Chef in managing the day-to-day operations of the hotel's kitchens. This full-time role will see you working in a fast-paced, dynamic environment as you help to deliver outstanding dining experiences for our guests.

What you'll be doing

  1. Oversee the kitchen team in the absence of the Executive Chef, ensuring the smooth and efficient running of all kitchen operations
  2. Assist in menu planning, recipe development and cost control to maintain high quality and profitability
  3. Supervise and train kitchen staff, fostering a positive team environment and driving continuous improvement
  4. Ensure all food preparation, presentation and service meet the highest standards of hygiene and safety
  5. Collaborate with the hotel's F&B team to provide exceptional customer service to guests
  6. Manage stock levels and ordering to minimise waste and optimise efficiency

What we're looking for

  1. Minimum 3 years' experience as a Sous Chef or in a similar senior culinary role within a hotel, restaurant or similar hospitality setting
  2. Formal culinary qualification such as a diploma or degree in Culinary Arts or equivalent
  3. Strong leadership and people management skills with the ability to motivate and develop a team
  4. Excellent knowledge of food preparation techniques, presentation and quality standards
  5. Ability to work calmly and effectively under pressure in a fast-paced environment
  6. Strong communication and interpersonal skills to liaise with the wider hotel team
  7. Passionate about delivering exceptional dining experiences and committed to continuous improvement
