  • Provide secretarial and administrative support to ensure the effective functioning of the Shariah Committee. This includes coordinating Shariah Committee meetings and overseeing Shariah governance aspects such as appointment, remuneration, evaluation, succession planning and training.
  • Responsible for maintaining the Shariah Committee resolution database and ensuring timely dissemination of the Shariah Committee resolutions to key stakeholders in the bank.
  • Coordinate and manage Zakat and other charitable funds, ensuring they are channelled appropriately in accordance with Shariah Committee endorsements.
  • Facilitate collaboration with implementation partners (e.g., Zakat authorities, NGOs, social enterprises, academia) to enhance societal impact through the utilization of Zakat funds.
  • Serve as the department's compliance and administration officer, responsible for timely reporting and handling of regulatory breaches, training, Data Loss Prevention (DLP), Risk and Control Self-Assessment (RCSA) and other compliance matters.
  • Maintain and update departmental manuals and governance frameworks. Manage administrative tasks including procurement, travel arrangements, document management, and meeting coordination.
  • Actively represent the bank in committees and working groups coordinated by AIBIM or other relevant bodies.
  • Offer day-to-day advisory support on Shariah matters to relevant parties within OCBC, as needed.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in the Islamic finance industry, preferably in a Shariah function aligned with BNM's Shariah governance framework.
  • Degree from a recognized university or professional qualification with a foundation in Usul al-Fiqh and Fiqh al-Muamalat.
  • Good understanding of Islamic commercial law and its application in banking operations, products and services.
  • Ability to effectively manage compliance responsibilities and understand internal compliance requirements.
  • Demonstrates adaptability to digital tools and emerging technologies. Familiarity with AI applications, data analytics or financial technology solutions in Islamic finance is an added advantage.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills in English.
  • Self-starter with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple work streams efficiently.
