Position purpose:

To supervise welding and structural repair activities on port equipment, including oversight of vendor-conducted NDT (Non-Destructive Testing) activities. This role ensures work complies with technical standards and safety regulations. When no NDT or structural repairs are ongoing, the supervisor will assist the Service Supervisor with general maintenance tasks and operational support.

Key Responsibilities:

Welding & Structural Repair Supervision

  • Lead and supervise welders and fabricators perform structural repairs on port equipment (e.g., RTGs,QC, spreaders, trailers).

  • Ensure compliance with WPS (Welding Procedure Specifications), standards (AWS, ASME, ISO), and project specifications.

  • Interpret engineering drawings, structural layouts, and welding symbols to guide repair work.

NDT Oversight

  • Supervise all NDT activities performed by third-party vendors (VT, UT, MT, PT).

  • Review and approve NDT procedures, results, and reports.

  • Ensure all testing is in accordance with applicable codes and contract requirements.

  • Maintain quality documentation and traceability for all NDT records.

RTG and Structural Inspection

  • Inspect repaired RTG and QC structures and other equipment for quality and structural soundness before returning them to operation.

  • Ensure safety and structural integrity of critical load bearing components

Client Communication & Reporting

  • Provide daily and weekly updates to the client on structural repair and NDT progress.

  • Attend progress meetings and prepare detailed reports on welding quality, inspections, and job status.

  • Coordinate inspection results and acceptance with the client's QA/QC representatives.

Safety & Compliance

  • Ensure all activities adhere to safety and environmental regulations.

  • Enforce proper PPE usage and safe work practices among team members and vendors

Team & Vendor Coordination

  • Supervise internal welding teams and monitor the performance of NDT contractors.

  • Assign repair tasks and follow up on timelines and quality expectations.

Support to Service Supervisor

  • Assist the Service Supervisor with general maintenance and repair activities when no NDT or structural tasks are scheduled.

  • Provide technical support in diagnosing and resolving equipment faults.

  • Help coordinate resources, tools, and manpower for ongoing service operations

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: RM4, RM4,500.00 per month
