About the role

We are seeking an experienced and strategic-minded Head of Finance to join our team at Newbillion Precision Metal Sdn. Bhd. This full-time role will be based in our Batu Kawan, Penang office and will play a crucial part in shaping the financial direction and growth of our business.

What you'll be doing

1) Strategic Financial Leadership

  • Formulate and implement the company's financial strategy in alignment with corporate objectives.
  • Provide financial insights and analysis to support business planning, investment, and expansion decisions.
  • Act as a strategic business partner to the management team, contributing to profitability and operational efficiency.
  • Lead budgeting, forecasting, and long-term financial planning activities.
  • Support corporate decision-making with financial modelling and scenario analysis.
  • Lead and execute in ensuring sufficient strategic documentation is in place for the major board & management decision-making (i.e.: board minutes etc.)

2)   Financial Management & Control

  • Oversee all financial accounting, management reporting, and consolidation activities.
  • Ensure accurate and timely preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
  • Manage cash flow, working capital, and liquidity to maintain healthy financial stability.
  • Drive cost control initiatives, monitor variances, and ensure financial discipline across departments.
  • Oversee CAPEX evaluation and ROI analysis for major projects and investments.
  • Drive cost effective financing initiatives (i.e.: banks etc.) to maintain healthy gearing ratio, debt-service ratio and lower finance cost.
  • Lead negotiations with bankers for a optimal financing package.

3)   Compliance, Governance & Risk

  • Ensure full compliance with statutory regulations, SST, tax laws, and MFRS / IFRS reporting standards.
  • Liaise with external auditors, tax authorities, and financial institutions in ensuring statutory compliance in the audit of financial statement, tax recognition and bank covenants of the financing facility.
  • Establish and monitor internal controls, policies, and financial governance frameworks.
  • Identify financial risks and mitigation strategies, ensuring sound corporate governance practices.

4)   Business & Operational Support

  • Lead and work with Engineering, Supply Chain, and BD teams to align financial insights with operational objectives.
  • Oversee product and project costing, margin analysis, and inventory valuation.
  • Enhance financial processes and automation through liaising and implementing new systems such as ERP systems and visualization digital tools.
  • Support supply chain financing and procurement optimization.

5)   People Leadership & Development

  • Lead, mentor, and develop the Finance team to ensure high performance and succession readiness.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, integrity, and continuous improvement.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally to strengthen financial literacy and ownership across departments.

What we're looking for

  • Qualified accountant (ACCA, CPA or equivalent) with 8+ years' post-qualification experience (with 3 years in leadership role)
  • Proven track record of managing finance functions in manufacturing, engineering or industrial organizations
  • Strong Knowledge in IFRS/MFRS accounting standard requirement, tax regulations, and local financial compliance
  • Technical competencies required are Microsoft Excel, Microsoft PowerPoint, Microsoft Word, and other visualization tools (i.e. Power BI, Excel Macro) are an added advantage.
  • Exceptional financial analysis, reporting and forecasting skills
  • Strong commercial acumen and ability to interpret data to drive strategic decision-making
  • Excellent analytical, communication and stakeholder management skills
  • Proficient in using financial software and ERP systems
  • Experience leading and developing high-performing finance teams
