Job Summary:

We are seeking a
detail-oriented and technically skilled Sheet Metal Design & Costing Engineer
to join our growing team in Prai. The successful candidate will be responsible for interpreting technical drawings, evaluating fabrication methods, preparing accurate cost estimates, and ensuring smooth coordination between design and production. This role is ideal for someone with hands-on experience in sheet metal design, manufacturing processes, and product costing who enjoys translating engineering concepts into practical, cost-efficient production outcomes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Interpret and review
    2D and 3D technical drawings
    using AutoCAD, SolidWorks, and STEP file formats.
  • Evaluate appropriate manufacturing methods such as
    stamping, laser cutting, bending, welding, and buffing
    based on product design.
  • Translate product drawings into
    feasible production plans
    aligned with materials, part complexity, and production volume.
  • Prepare
    accurate cost estimations
    covering material usage, labor, tooling, and overheads.
  • Collaborate closely with
    engineering, production, and procurement teams
    to ensure design manufacturability and cost efficiency.
  • Review product design for continuous improvement in
    product quality, cost reduction, and process optimization.
  • Support project timelines and communicate progress effectively to the General Manager and cross-functional teams.
  • Maintain documentation of design changes, costing data, and production feedback for future reference.

Requirements:

  • Diploma or Bachelor's Degree in
    Mechanical Engineering
    ,
    Manufacturing Engineering
    , or a related technical field.
  • Minimum
    2 years of experience
    in sheet metal design, fabrication, or product costing.
  • Proficient in
    AutoCAD
    ,
    SolidWorks
    , or equivalent design software.
  • Strong understanding of
    manufacturing processes
    , materials, and cost structures.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Able to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Detail-oriented with strong time management skills to meet tight deadlines.
