Requirement:

  • 1 year experience in Electrical Technician.

This role typically requires proficiency in the following areas:

* Motor and Control Circuit Theory: Deep understanding of how AC and DC motors (including single-phase and three-phase) operate, including variable frequency drives (VFDs) and soft starters. Must know the function of motor control components like relays, contactors, overloads, and circuit breakers.

* Reading and Interpreting Schematics: Ability to accurately read and understand electrical wiring diagrams, control logic, and industrial blueprints for motor and pump systems.

* Electrical Installation and Wiring:

* Proficiency in wiring for both single-phase and three-phase systems.

* Knowledge of different wiring methods for commercial and industrial settings.

* Correct selection of cable sizing, protection devices, and isolation/switching equipment.

* Proper termination techniques and cable management.

* Pump and System

Knowledge: Basic understanding of pump types (e.g., centrifugal, positive-displacement) and how they integrate mechanically and electrically into a system, including associated sensors and control components.

* Earthing and Protection: Expertise in earthing (grounding) systems, classification of earthing, and implementing appropriate protection against overcurrent, short circuits, and ground leakage.

* Testing and Commissioning: Ability to perform essential electrical tests on completed installations, such as continuity, insulation resistance, polarity, and Residual Current Device (RCD) tests to ensure safety and function.

* Troubleshooting: Skilled in fault diagnosis using testing tools like multimeters and clamp meters to identify and resolve issues like short circuits, open circuits, and tripped equipment.

Certifications and Qualifications

While specific certifications vary by region and industry, the competency is often demonstrated through vocational qualifications or technical certifications. Examples of recognized competencies or courses include:

* Wireman/Electrician Certification: Often tiered (e.g., single-phase, three-phase) and required by regulatory bodies for performing physical wiring installations.

* Industrial Electrical Maintenance: Certifications focusing on the maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of industrial electrical machinery.

* Basic Motor Control Courses: Training specifically in building and testing motor starter circuits and control systems.
