Responsibilities:  

We are the Data Science team in Data COE (Centre of Excellence), and responsible for building various Machine learning products for all the business units & functions. Our work powers the marketplaces across various geographies' in PropertyGuru, drives volume to value for our customers and enterprises. We solve problems in the realm of recommender system, dynamic pricing, enabling customers with various language and computer vision related capabilities to be more efficient and accurate in dealing with the properties. We also provide our enterprises a wide array of data products like automated valuation models, data insights suites for them to take an informed decision about the properties in Southeast Asia. PropertyGuru is looking for a Lead Data Scientist, who has a proven track record of working with latest Machine Learning capabilities and productizing it at scale. The Lead Data Scientist should have an experience leading other proficient engineers and working with various product leaders and stakeholders across geographies. The person should be highly passionate about technology and applications of machine learning.

• Be responsible for execution of Data COE (centre of excellence) roadmaps from conception to delivery.
• Build state-of-the-art Machine Learning models, fine-tune to specific use cases and deploy them at scale.
• Track and monitor the model performances both online and offline and incorporate the feedback from various stakeholders.
• Provide technical leadership to your projects and teams and create a high-performance data science team.
• Build technically robust, extensible and scalable solutions across different business units and functions.
• Exhibit and nurture the culture of reading research papers and implement them in various ML products.
• Be responsible for enforcing best practices, set up guidelines, engineering excellence processes for the Data Science team.
• Exhibit thought leadership in bringing the best ML practices from the industry and the academia and experimenting it within the data science teams.
• Robust QA framework to improve the quality of the data products shipped to the production.
• Collaborating with other engineers from various teams and creating a shared engineering excellence environment.
• Empower the team with right tools and decision-making skillsets so that they take complete ownership of products & deliveries.
• Evaluate the performance of your teams regularly, share and seek feedback.
• Make the team visible at various forums in and outside the organization in the areas of Machine Learning and evangelizing the data products.
• Be responsible for a clear communication and documentation around our ML models, the model outputs and the explainability of the results to the stakeholders.

Requirements:

• 7 years of experience in machine learning development projects and a strong foundation in object-oriented programming with data structures/algorithms.
• 5 years of experience as a senior data scientist, applying Machine Learning or Artificial Intelligence to specific vertical domains and solving problems for end-users.
• 5 years of experience with design and architecture; testing/launching software products
• Knowledge of Machine Learning engineering and experience building large models (e.g., language, multi-modal) in Natural Language Processing and Computer Vision.
• Proficiency in Python, and one of the modern machine learning / deep learning frameworks like PyTorch or/and Tensorflow.
• Proficient in the latest machine learning frameworks like HuggingFace, Sentence Transformers and OpenAI and using LLMs (large language models) like BERT, GPT, FLAN-T5 and similar transformer architectures in real world applications.
• Working experience and curiosity with Generative AI and application development using frameworks like LangChain, OpenAI plugins etc.
• Experience with fine-tuning LLMs (PEFT) and prompt engineering (few/zero shot) inference.
• Experience in reducing ML model compute & memory costs (e.g., quantization, distillation, sparsification, pruning)
• Experience with cloud environments such as AWS, GCP or Azure and the relevant ML tools like Amazon Sagemaker and / or VertexAI, Amazon Bedrock to develop and deploy models.
• Experience with container orchestration platforms such as Kubernetes or ECS.
• Experience with REST APIs like FastAPI, queue-based architectures like pub/sub and asyncio frameworks.
• Experience with Vector Databases like Pinecone, Elastic Search, Milvus and other search capabilities like ANN, Faiss etc.
• Experience in running applications using serverless frameworks like AWS Lambda.
• Experience with CI/CD tools like Jenkins, GitHub Actions, Helm Charts & ArgoCD.
• Familiarity with Airflow jobs, Big Query and relevant Big Data technologies.
• Good understanding of relational and non-relational databases.
• Self-motivated, detailed oriented, a natural learner with a sense of humour.
• Good communication skills and ability to convey ideas both to technical and non-technical people.
• Experience working in a complex, matrixed organization involving cross-functional or cross-business projects.
