Job Purpose

To build the sustainability practice of Group CIMB within Group Commercial Banking (both Business Banking and SME), in line with the Group's vision of being a Sustainability leader in ASEAN.

Key Responsibilities

  • Identify new areas of opportunities in products/services or economic sectors, in line with CIMB's Green, Social and Sustainable Impact Product & Services (GSSIPS) framework, and position CIMB to strategically tap into and capture opportunities arising from sustainable development and transition towards low carbon economy.
  • Develop and execute CIMB's sustainable finance strategies and initiatives, with a focus on innovating sustainable finance products & services and leading pitches and transactions, working closely with clients and key internal stakeholders including Relationship Managers, Branding and Marketing, Credit Risk, etc.
  • Strengthen Group Commercial Banking's sustainability capabilities in offering sustainable finance solutions to clients, especially with Relationship Managers and Credit Risk, in partnership with Group Sustainability.
  • Support incorporation of environmental, social and governance considerations into business product and marketing decisions.
  • Collaborate with product, sales and risk teams to enhance and develop credible sustainable finance solutions, from origination to execution.
  • Innovate and identify new product and service opportunities in the sustainability space to grow Group Commercial Banking's Green, Social, Sustainable Impact Products and Services (GSSIPS) portfolio.
  • Interact and build relationship with clients and grow the sustainable finance portfolio focused on high impact opportunities within Group Commercial Banking.
  • Drive performance and ensure the quality of sustainable finance transactions and subsequent reporting.
  • Maintain knowledge of most up to date ESG regulations and standards (e.g. ICMA Green Loan Principles, etc.), collaborating with Group Sustainability on the formulation and update of internal approaches and processes, and sharing best practices and ideas.
  • Work closely with Risk & Compliance Officer (RCO) to ensure internal governance and compliance to sustainability related policies incl. Group Sustainability Policy (GSP) and Group Sustainable Financing Policy (GSFP).
  • Support implementation and management of sustainability-related practices/initiatives for Commercial Banking.
  • Lead and execute sustainability efforts within Group Commercial Banking, working closely with Group Sustainability in addressing concerns and requirements of internal/external stakeholders.
  • Support the expansion of Group Commercial Banking’s GSSIPS suite and strive to be recognized by relevant league tables/ awards.
  • Ramp up client engagement on sustainability risk & opportunities.

Job Specifications

  • Academic qualification in financial or sustainability-related discipline from a recognized institution.
  • Over 5-6 years of banking and/or sustainability or 1-year relevant experience in sustainable finance.
  • Must have prior experience working with financial services sector and corporates.
  • Knowledge and experience developing, pitching and executing financial products and transactions, with a strong passion for sustainable finance.
  • Experience working with finance professionals and clients.
  • Working knowledge of how sustainability-related issues e.g. climate change and social inequalities, impact material business risks and opportunities.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills in English.
  • Positive, resourceful and a strong team player. Self-motivated and able to build relationships across the organization of varying functions and levels.
