Get to Know the Team

Grab is Southeast Asia’s leading super-app, offering services such as deliveries, mobility, financial services, enterprise services, and more to millions of users. Our AI Automation Team is focused on creating end-to-end automated ML/AI solutions to tackle challenging problems within Grab’s marketplace. These challenges include adaptive experiments, embeddings, recommendations, and large-scale marketplace optimizations. We are searching for lead machine learning engineers to help make our vision a reality by developing and refining advanced ML and experiment platforms.

Get to Know the Role

In this hands-on role, you will build large-scale machine learning, reinforcement learning, and optimization solutions. Your work will directly impact Grab’s marketplace, serving tens of thousands of consumers, drivers, and merchants. This role requires a solid background in machine learning, reinforcement learning, and optimization, experience in developing scalable ML solutions for complex problems, a good grasp of the software development life cycle, and familiarity with various regression, classification, and optimization problems.

The Critical Tasks You Will Perform

  1. You will lead the design, development, and deployment of innovative machine learning models.
  2. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand needs and optimize solutions.
  3. You will architect and develop reinforcement learning frameworks to train and run algorithms at scale.
  4. You will manage machine learning applications through their entire lifecycle.
  5. You will design and implement algorithms to extract insights and identify trends, patterns, and relationships from high-volume, high-dimensional data.
  6. You will participate in code and design reviews to uphold high engineering standards.
  7. You will participate in on-call rotations, troubleshoot, mitigate, and resolve issues.
  8. You will mentor junior machine learning engineers and offer constructive feedback.

Qualifications

What Skills You Will Need

  1. Strong background in machine learning, reinforcement learning, and optimization: Experience in these areas is crucial for developing the models and algorithms required.
  2. Software development practices: Experience in writing maintainable, testable code is essential for managing machine learning applications.
  3. Turning business problems into ML/AI projects: A solid understanding of how to translate business needs into machine learning solutions.
  4. Experience with version control systems (VCS): Proficiency with tools like Git is necessary for managing code.
  5. Proficiency in ML frameworks: Experience with TensorFlow or PyTorch for building models.
  6. Proficiency in Python: Most of the development work will be in Python.
  7. Experience with big data frameworks: Familiarity with Spark or Ray to process and analyze large datasets.
  8. Developing production-quality ML pipelines: Ability to create efficient, scalable machine learning pipelines.
