Pharmacy

Job Summary

  • Assists the Head of Department to enforce policies and procedures within the department and supervises the staff in their day to day job.
  • Responsible in ensuring medication safety from the point of prescription screening until the dispensing of medications to the patients.
  • Monitors movement of drugs and medication supply (including good distribution practice) in and out of the department and ensure that there is enough supply for the patients.
  • Responsible for the management of Dangerous Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (including receiving, supply and storage) in the department and perform periodic inspection at the ward level.
  • Perform medications dispensing and counselling for patients that require additional information regarding the use and indications of medications.
  • Assist the department on activities such as CDR / TPN Services, periodical pharmacy location / equipment inspections for proper / correct storage, inventory control and expiry dates.
  • Attend to drug enquiries from patients and healthcare providers.
  • Supervise the prescriptions dispensed to patients to ensure safety, quality and compliance with applicable law.
  • Supervise staff compounding, label and package medications and pharmaceuticals.
  • Investigate reports on incidents, medication errors and patient complaints. Resolve problems or makes recommendations to Pharmacy Manager
  • Attend meetings and participate in staff monthly meetings or committees as directed by Pharmacy manager.
  • Enhance professional growth and development through participation in education programs, current literature, in service meetings and workshop.
  • Remain apprised of latest pharmaceutical products, developments and law.

Job Requirements:

  • Minimum Degree in Pharmacy and recognized by the Malaysian Pharmacy Board.
  • Current registration as a practicing pharmacist with the Malaysian Pharmacy Board
  • Possesses a valid Annual Retention Certificate issued by Pharmacy Board.
  • Knowledge in purchasing and inventory control.
  • Good command of English and Bahasa Malaysia ( Oral and Written)
  • Ability to communicate with all level of people and departments.
  • Minimum one year of experience in hospital pharmacy practices is encouraged to apply.
  • Possess good leadership, negotiation, communication and interpersonal relationship skills and good judgement.
