As a Manufacturing Director SEA, you will work with all the coatings business units to develop a strategic plan to provide the needed manufacturing capability within the region.

Lead, direct and control the day-to-day activities in operational areas across all plants in South East Asia to achieve the short and medium-term operating objectives.

You will be responsible for activities such as engineering/maintenance, production, quality control, capital planning, industrial relations management, people development and process improvement.

You will drive all facilities to meet local and COMPANY Global Environment, Health and Safety (EH&S) standards following EH&S Management System

Key Responsibilities

  • Be part of Malaysia Country Leadership team and South Each Asia leadership team, to codrive country and regional strategic initiative representing Operations
  • Run safe and compliant plants that meet all local legislation and Company's policies particularly EHS, Global Code of Ethics and quality requirements.
  • Foster culture, develop competencies across all levels in Operations. Create an inclusive workplace culture that fosters employee engagement and performance.
  • Build strategic capability for growth and develop a strong bench strength for operations leaders.
  • Lead strategic execution of regional initiatives such as Footprint optimization, localization, etc.
  • Sponsor and drive implementation of continuous improvement projects, especially capitalizing on Quality Process techniques (e.g. Lean Enterprise and Sigma Logic), using procedure and systems changes to best effect for the businesses served by each plant.
  • Sustain and further develop a strong performance culture throughout the organisation with all levels of employees through communication processes, use of performance and learning tools, negotiation and consultation on trade union agreements and effective crossfunctional teamwork.
  • Capex Management across all of SEA including five year capex planning, spend budget and capital approval authorization
  • Manage plant capacity, costs, inventory, and service for the best benefit of the company businesses represented at each plant.
  • Build crossfunctional relationships and teamwork to enhance performance especially alongside the sales, marketing and technical areas. To participate in a sales and operations planning process to ensure total business decisions with effective and efficient management of product supply to the market.

Qualifications

  • Chemical or engineering based degree.
  • Minimum 10 years managerial experience.
  • Line management of a significant team of both plant and professional level staff.
  • Qualification and/or experience in process improvement methodologies, understanding of production financial systems and ISO quality systems.
  • Trade union negotiation and employee consultation experience.
  • Understanding, and ideally experience, of using Lean Enterprise and Sigma Logic techniques.
  • Proven ability to influence at all levels in the organisation.
  • Crossfunctional team leadership and experience of delivering results in a heavily matrixed environment.
