Derivatives Settlements Services covers the entire settlement cycle for Fixed Income Derivatives (FID). FID are highly traded instruments which can be further classified as either OTC or centrally cleared. So, product knowledge is highly sought after skillset both from a buy side or sell side perspective.


While the department covers the back office (BO) side of FID, the function allows for a staff member to develop end-to-end understanding of the BO operations from trade booking to post settlements.

Furthermore, development of specialist knowledge of settlements such as SWIFT message creation with focus on payment transparency is highly sought after skill set.

The Opportunity:

An opening for a post settlements role is available.

The role of the post settlements operations analyst is to timely and accurately resolved Nostro and/or Accounting breaks (breaks) which emanated from incorrect settlement of cashflows of interest rate derivatives (IRD) trades on behalf of HSBC.

Breaks resolution involved conducting post-settlement investigations on the process steps that occurred during the pre
- and actual settlement stages, with the intent to identify root causes and similar any issues that may have led to the incorrect cashflow settlement.

What you'll do:

Impact on the Business:

  • Affirming IRD cashflows with counterparties and performing all presettlement checks (SSI's, booking, etc), and settling cashflows accurately
  • Timely escalation of issues that may threaten the settlement of cashflows or that may be cause of discrepancy on the trade
  • Addressing or escalating all requests from the business (front office or other departments) in a timely manner
  • Implementing policies and procedures of the function as well as by direction of management.

Customers / Stakeholders:

  • Responding to phone calls with courtesy and professionalism
  • Engaging customer or stakeholder requests in a constructive manner
  • Participating in forums, meetings, and similar such sessions

Leadership & Teamwork:

  • Support training of new staff by administering courses, etc
  • Extend support to team members by taking on redistributed work, etc
  • Participate in team building initiatives within the premises and occasionally outside
  • Support broader initiatives of the business unit

Operational Effectiveness & Control:

  • Participating in change initiatives such as UATs
  • Contributing to streamlining the organization by providing and supporting ideas, and delivering yellow belt projects
  • Adhering to all policies and procedures
  • Supporting the control initiatives and programs of BRCM, Compliance, ORIC, the management team, etc.
Requirements
