  • Bachelor's degree is required in relevant discipline.


The role requires extensive field work within state government departments and agencies, and travel to infrastructure locations in Malaysia as required.

Key job responsibilities

  • Develop deep relations with the federal and state governments in Malaysia where AWS has infrastructure development, expansion and operation, lead and implement public affairs and policy strategies for the AWS infrastructure business.
  • Provide government relations and public affairs support for the AWS infrastructure team to ensure smooth infra project cycle and operations phase.
  • Advance the company's policy positions on infrastructure directly with governments, as well as through third party and association membership.
  • Work collaboratively and transparently with the infrastructure team to ensure alignment between public policy goals and business objectives.
  • Assess and communicate potential regulatory and policy challenges, develop mitigation strategies and policy positions, and coordinate external advocacy and outreach programs and key initiatives.
  • Facilitate meetings between AWS executives and key stakeholders, including but not limited to government officials and regulators to promote advocacy positions.
  • Participate and contribute to appropriate opportunities in industry associations, and ensure appropriate utilization of judgment and integrity in employing external consultants.

  • Previous work experience engaging and/or executing large investment projects with various level of governments.
  • A good track record in navigating regulatory changes and conducting policy advocacy
  • A deep understanding of political landscape of Malaysia at a federal and state level
  • A strong overview and understanding of project cycle, basic infrastructure and general permitting phases
  • Ability to dive deep on political, legislative and regulatory trends at both the federal and state government level, that may impact the AWS infrastructure.
  • Ability to synthesize policy documents for internal and external stakeholders.
  • High capability in oral, written and interpersonal communication skills. Demonstrated ability to interact effectively and comfortably with senior government officials, and additionally to network with external stakeholders
  • Must be flexible and demonstrate strong judgment, decisionmaking skills, and political acumen, with the ability to influence, negotiate with, and persuade others as required.
  • Maintain highest personal levels of ethical conduct, confidentiality, and integrity, with a strong professional reputation in the industry.
  • Selfstarter with proven track record of successfully working with a wide array of functional groups across an organization (especially functions such as legal, security, infrastructure, energy, and PR), as well as across cultures. Ability to work independently as required.
