Reporting to the HSSE Manager, the Safety Officer is primarily responsible for performing activities aimed at maintaining health and safety of employees in their work activities.

Additionally, ensuring employees comply with business and customer requirements.

1.Legal and business standard requirements

  • Understand applicable laws, regulations, guidelines and business standards (ISO, IWAY etc.) from the HSSE Manager.
  • Inform the Department Manager about any deviations from relevant laws & standards.
  • Assist the HSSE Manager in enforcing supply chain security standard; including awareness amongst all employees.

2. Incidents and inspections

  • Proactively identify incidents/accidents/near misses that occur across the premises through tours and employee interviews.
  • Ensure occurrence and resolution of incidents/accidents/near misses are recorded for future reference purposes.
  • Escalate any observations beyond their scope to the HSSE Manager in a timely manner.
  • Responsible for performing daily/weekly/monthly checklists related to H&S matters. Additionally, ensuring accurate & complete documentation of their observations.
  • On a daily basis, ensure safe working conditions are in place for Warehouse Coworkers and escalate any deviations to the Operations & HSSE Manager.
  • Periodically monitor the inventory levels of first aid materials and report on consumption to the customer. Additionally, assist employees in using first aid items for ailments/injuries.
  • Periodically monitor integrity and adherence to fire safety procedures (such as, clear exit doors, no barricading of emergency exits etc.) and immediately report deviations to HSSE Manager and respective customer counterpart.
  • Responsible to provide weekly/monthly data and information to Department Manager for review.

3. HSSE awareness and wellbeing programs

  • Delivery awareness sessions and preshift briefings as per the established annual HSSE program.
  • Perform training, awareness and refresher courses as per annual training plan.
  • Perform induction training for new joiners as per HSSE Manager or Senior Safety Officer instruction.
  • Record and submit for Manager review record of all training topics, themes and hours.
  • Ensure employees comply with uniform and PPE requirements of operational activities.
  • Ensure integrity of racking system and proactively identify cases of noncompliances with storage conditions prescribed by the customer.
  • Ensure a clean and hygienic environment is available for all employees through waste management procedures and training of the housekeeping team.

4. Standard operating procedures

  • Ensure processes and procedure are always adhered to.
  • Ensure any violations or deviations from policies are timely reported to the Department Manager.

Requirement:

  • Knowledge of the warehouse operations.
  • Team work and collaboration.
  • Communication in local language and competent in English.
  • Relationship management and communication skills.
  • Leadership and clear reporting skills.
  • Minimum of bachelor's degree in relevant field.
  • Minimum of diploma or yellow book holder or equivalent.
  • 1 2 year of experience within the health & safety within warehouse management.
  • Competent with MS office.
  • Ability to work independently as within a team.
  • Meeting deadlines.
  • Communicate honestly and with clarity.
  • People management.

Salary:
RM2, RM3,600.00 per month
