Job Overview:
The Commercial Director, APAC will report to the Vice President, Eastern Hemisphere and will be responsible for the commercial performance of the Asia-Pacific (APAC) region. Cooper has experienced strong growth in the region and wants to capitalize on that by further expanding our presence.
The APAC Sales Team incorporates a team of approximately 10 sales managers and back-office staff who are spread out geographically within the region. A major focus will be aftermarket of Cooper's OEM and non-OEM engine-compressor brands including Superior, Ajax, Gemini, Cooper Bessemer, CAT 3600 and Waukesha VHP. New equipment offerings include Ajax, Gemini, and Superior.
The APAC region for Cooper Machinery Services comprises 18 nations including China, Australia, Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand, and Vietnam. The Commercial Director for this area will need to reside in the region.
The Commercial Director, APAC will be provided with established market information, installed base and financial performance. They will be responsible for the sales P&L of the region, using an existing base of customers and determining strategic growth initiatives. There is an expectation that they would lead by example, visiting customers regularly, and landing incremental sales themselves.
Teamwork is a key aspect, and the candidate will work together with the broader Cooper team to clean data, analyze & help draw conclusions regarding market penetration and opportunities for further growth. They will also be responsible for coordinating and developing reports and regular updates to provide insightful feedback on progress to both internal and external stakeholders. Very strong people management is an essential skill.
This position will require an extensively experienced sales background (10+ years), preferably with a technical base in Oil & Gas to complement (mechanical/process engineering, mechanic or similar).
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Establish and drive further growth by leading the APAC sales team in all aspects.
- Oversee the sales P&L for the region.
- Manage and optimize teamwork, cohesion, and performance.
- Identify opportunities for sales growth.
- Further develop systems for tracking progress and reporting, without losing focus of the sales growth priority.
- Resource planning.
- Budget planning.
- Project & initiative monitoring and reporting.
- Data analysis to draw actionable conclusions.
- Training, mentoring, and coaching for team members.
Required Skills and Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in Commerce, Business Administration, Process or Mechanical Engineering or related field from an accredited University is preferred.
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in Senior Sales/BD and leadership roles in the Oil & Gas/Aftermarket Industrial sectors. Ideally Gas Compression.
- Demonstrated team leadership to achieve strong sales growth with multi-million USD contracts.
- Detailed knowledge and track-record managing a P&L.
- Sound knowledge of engineering theories and design
- Experience with multi-faceted Oil &Gas projects.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills, in English.
