JOB TITLE : Head of Taxation & Treasury

TYPE : Contract (Renewable)

ROLE SUMMARY
As the Head of Taxation and Treasury, you will be responsible for managing and optimizing the company's tax strategy, compliance, and treasury functions. Your role will involve overseeing tax planning, ensuring tax compliance, managing cash flow, and maintaining effective relationships with financial institutions. Through your expertise, you will contribute to the financial stability, profitability, and regulatory compliance of the company.

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES

1. Tax Strategy and Compliance:

  • Develop and implement tax strategies to optimize the company's tax position, minimize tax liabilities, and comply with local tax laws and regulations.
  • Conduct regular tax assessments, identify potential risks or opportunities, and recommend appropriate actions.
  • Ensure accurate and timely preparation and submission of tax returns, including corporate income tax, GST/VAT, and other tax-related filings.
  • Stay updated on changes in tax laws, regulations, and incentives to proactively adjust tax strategies and comply with new requirements.
  • Collaborate with external tax advisors and authorities as necessary.

2. Tax Planning and Risk Management:

  • Conduct thorough tax research and analysis to identify tax planning opportunities and ensure tax-efficient structures.
  • Evaluate and manage tax risks, including transfer pricing, withholding tax, and indirect taxes.
  • Provide guidance to internal stakeholders on tax implications of business transactions, investments, and restructuring activities.
  • Develop and implement tax policies and procedures to strengthen internal controls and ensure compliance.

3. Treasury Management:

  • Manage the company's cash flow, liquidity, and working capital to support operational requirements and strategic initiatives.
  • Oversee cash management activities, including cash forecasting, investments, and fund transfers.
  • Establish relationships with banks and financial institutions to optimize banking services, interest rates, and transaction costs.
  • Monitor foreign exchange risks and implement appropriate hedging strategies.
  • Develop treasury policies and procedures to ensure effective cash and risk management.

4. Financial Reporting and Compliance:

  • Collaborate with the finance team to ensure accurate and timely reporting of treasury activities, including cash positions, investments, and debt management.
  • Prepare treasury-related financial statements, reports, and disclosures for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements related to treasury operations, including banking regulations and foreign exchange controls.

5. Relationship Management:

  • Build and maintain relationships with external stakeholders, including tax authorities, banks, and financial institutions.
  • Represent the company in tax audits, inquiries, and negotiations with tax authorities.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders, such as finance, legal, and business units, to align tax and treasury activities with business objectives.

SKILLS/ KNOWLEDGE

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. Professional certifications (e.g., CPA, CFA) are preferred.
  • Proven experience (8+ years) in tax and treasury management, preferably within the telecom industry or a similar regulated sector.
  • In-depth knowledge of Malaysian tax laws, regulations, and practices.
  • Strong understanding of treasury operations, cash management, and financial risk management.
  • Experience in tax planning, compliance, and risk management.
  • Proficiency in financial reporting standards and treasury-related software applications.
  • Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines.
