The Head of EHS will proactively plan, direct, and drive implementation of the Company's EHS program to ensure safe, healthy, and respectful workplaces.

Key Responsibility :

  • Leads the EHS team in ensuring work environment and facilities are in a safe manner for the protection and well-being of our employees, clients, subcontractors, and visitors.
  • Ensures compliance with all applicable federal, state and district EHS related regulations, including maintaining the company OSHA SOPS
  • Sets the tone for corporate EHS management, demonstrates strong leadership skills, develops teams that thrive, collaborates well with others, fosters team synergy. encourages inter-dependency and cross-team collaboration, has excellent communication skills, and strives to enrich the Company Culture
  • Inspires others to promote, develop, implement, verify, and improve risk-reduction through planning, EHS programs, incident reporting, trend analysis, EHS team cohesion, EHS training, craft recognition programs, and improvements in the efforts towards creating a positive, industry-leading EHS climate.
  • The primary focus should be on motivating team cohesiveness, inspiring EHS Improvement, orchestrating EHS training and facilitating in construction planning.
  • The Head of ESH's footprint should extend beyond individual market sectors or accounts to effect and influence the company EHS philosophy, path, and approach through collaboration with Business Unit EHS Managers, Westports EHS Committee, Superintendents Leadership Team, Operations, Enterprise Leadership, and Site EHS Leaders
  • Implement and administrate EHS policies and procedures in compliance with company policy, customer requirements, and regulatory agencies such as DOSH and other various state, local, and federal agencies.
  • Implements and develops strategic EHS approach and programs that align with Westports' vision.
  • Proactively fosters collaboration with Business Unit Leads, Human Resources, Risk Management, Legal, Engineering, Maintenance & Repair and other business functions.
  • Responsible for recruiting, professional development, evaluating, leading, and retaining safety leads, safety professionals and safety admin through-out the company.
  • Ability to effectively lead people and provide timely, actionable feedback.
  • Ability to accept feedback with grace and appreciation to drive self-improvement as a leader and influencer.
  • Capture, share and analyse company EHS statistics and trends with a focus on leading indicators to help prevent future incidents from occurring.
  • Responsible for creating and managing the corporate EHS budget.
  • Strategize on corporate safety initiatives, as well as lead and implement initiatives for organization.
  • Develop strategy for data collection and interpret the data to identify leading indicators that will drive proactive change in best practices and our EHS plan to improve safety culture across the Company.

Requirements :

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree from an accredited institution of higher learning
  • 15+ years of management experience and familiarity on EHS
  • Capable of identifying and anticipating potential risks and recommending corrective actions
  • Experience handling OSHA enforcement inspections, investigations, and hearings
  • Experience developing EHS programs across multiple locations and business lines Strong management, leadership, and interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate well both verbally and in writing
  • Excellent presentation skills and time management/organizational skills
  • Able to motivate and develop future EHS leaders
  • Strategic thinker, and action-oriented
