GenAI Project Manager

A Project Manager specialized for Gen AI Projects in the Data & AI team within CIMB is responsible for planning, executing, and overseeing projects that leverage data analytics, machine learning, and AI to drive strategic business objectives. This role involves managing the entire project lifecycle, from defining scope, timelines, and deliverables to coordinating cross-functional teams and stakeholders. The Project Manager ensures projects are delivered on time, within budget, and aligned with regulatory requirements. They are tasked with mitigating risks, managing dependencies, and optimizing resource allocation. Strong skills in project management methodologies (such as Agile or Scrum), a deep understanding of data and AI technologies, and experience in the banking or financial services industry are critical for success in this role.

Key Responsibilities

Project Planning and Execution

  1. Develop comprehensive project plans that outline scope, objectives, deliverables, timelines, and resource requirements.
  2. Oversee the execution of projects related to data analytics and AI, ensuring they are delivered on time and within budget.
  3. Coordinate with data scientists, data engineers, business analysts, and other stakeholders to align project goals with business strategies and regulatory requirements.

Stakeholder Management and Communication

  1. Serve as the primary point of contact for all project-related communications.
  2. Facilitate regular meetings, provide progress updates, and manage expectations with internal stakeholders, such as senior management, risk and compliance teams, and external partners.
  3. Ensure that all stakeholders are informed and engaged throughout the project lifecycle, addressing concerns and adapting plans as necessary.

Risk Management and Compliance:

  1. Identify, assess, and manage project risks, including technical, operational, and compliance-related risks.
  2. Develop mitigation strategies to address potential issues and ensure project alignment with industry regulations, such as GDPR, AML, and KYC.
  3. Monitor and report on risk status, ensuring all data and AI initiatives adhere to the bank's data governance and compliance policies.

Generative AI Integration and Implementation

  1. Design and oversee the integration of generative AI solutions into business processes to enhance efficiency and innovation.
  2. Collaborate with AI specialists to identify use cases for generative AI, such as natural language generation, predictive modeling, and automated content creation.
  3. Ensure the ethical and responsible use of generative AI by implementing guidelines for bias detection, transparency, and accountability.
  4. Train teams and stakeholders on the capabilities, limitations, and practical applications of generative AI to foster adoption and informed decision-making.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Information Technology, Business Administration, or a related field.

Professional Qualifications/Certifications

Certification in Project Management (e.g., PMP, PRINCE2) or Agile methodologies (e.g., Certified ScrumMaster) is highly desirable.

  1. 3+ years of experience in project management, preferably within the banking or financial services industry.
  2. Proven experience managing projects related to data analytics, machine learning, or AI.
  3. Experience with project management methodologies such as Agile, Scrum, or Waterfall.

Technical Skills

  1. Strong understanding of data management, data analytics, and AI tools and technologies (e.g., SQL, Python, R, cloud platforms like AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud).
  2. Familiarity with big data platforms (e.g., Hadoop, Spark) and data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI).
  3. Understanding of data governance, data privacy, and compliance standards specific to banking (e.g., GDPR, AML, KYC).
  4. Strong understanding of data and AI technologies, trends, and best practices. Experience in working with data-driven projects and initiatives.
  5. Computer Literacy – knowledge in Microsoft Office Excel, Word, & PowerPoint.
