Summary

As a key member of the Quality team, the Supplier Quality Engineer will contribute to a unified and coordinated effort under the guidance of the Supplier Quality Engineering Manager. This role supports the selection and development of suppliers, ensures compliance, and drives continuous improvement in the quality of supplied materials. Specifically, this position focuses on supporting the semiconductor and advanced manufacturing industry, requiring expertise in processes and standards unique to this sector. The Supplier Quality Engineer will collaborate with supplier management, procurement, manufacturing, engineering, and other Celestica personnel, as well as supplier representatives, to enhance processes related to supplied materials.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Supplier Qualification and Assessment: Conduct supplier qualification audits and assessments to Celestica and customer requirements, including new supplier evaluations and periodic assessments of the existing supply base.
  • Support site teams with customer and third-party audits, ensuring compliance with Quality Management Systems (QMS).
  • Evaluate and qualify supplier production processes and associated work instructions.
  • Part Qualification: Develop and implement Incoming Quality Control (IQC) inspection and test plans to verify critical quality characteristics.
  • Validate First Article Inspection Reports (FAIRs) and drive supplier corrective actions to ensure parts meet industry and customer requirements.
  • Perform pre-production qualification analysis for purchased parts supporting New Product Introduction (NPI).
  • Root Cause Corrective Action (RCCA) for Factory Supply Base: Manage the disposition of supplier nonconforming material through the Material Review Board (MRB).
  • Issue and manage the timely closure of Supplier Corrective Action Requests (SCARs) and 8D reports for critical supplier defects.
  • Collaborate with suppliers and Celestica factory teams to contain and purge non-conforming materials.
  • Monitor and communicate supplier performance, escalate underperforming suppliers, and implement Supplier Quality Development Plans.
  • Disposition and Control of Supplier Nonconforming Materials: Participate in Celestica Factory Materials Review Board (MRB) activities.
  • Assist inspectors in documenting defects within Celestica Defect Reporting Systems (NCMR and SCAR).
  • Customer Interface: Support customer 8D investigations related to supplier incidents and events.

Required Education, Qualifications & Experience:

  • Bachelor's Degree in an Engineering discipline or equivalent relevant experience.
  • Minimum 5 - 8 years of experience in a Supplier Quality role.

Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Preference will be given to candidates with technology experience in one or more of the following areas:
  • Complex Mechanical Assemblies
  • Semiconductor Industry Tooling
  • Electro-Mechanical Assemblies
  • Fabrications & Weldments
  • Machining
  • Robotics

Desired skills should include multiple of the following:

  • Semiconductor Industry "Copy Exactly" requirements.
  • Technical drawing interpretation and geometric tolerancing (GD&T).
  • Proficiency in First Article Inspection (FAI), Process Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (PFMEA), Control Plans, Statistical Process Control (SPC), and Measurement System Analysis (MSA).
  • Knowledge of ISO and agency certifications.
  • Practical knowledge of quality improvement tools and techniques, including 8D problem-solving.
  • Ability to create technical documents, work instructions, and QMS documentation.
  • Ability to analyze and manage large datasets.

General:

  • Six Sigma certification and/or training is a plus.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (especially Excel) and enterprise data systems.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
  • Willingness to travel domestically and internationally as required.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.
