Summary

The Engineer, Manufacturing Equipment is responsible for the development and/or sourcing of manufacturing equipment to support manufacturing operations goals. Scope of job may include design and development of equipment, qualification, deployment to manufacturing, improving performance and supporting programs to optimize efficiencies while maintaining a safe working environment.

Detailed Description

Performs tasks such as, but not limited to, the following:

  1. With minimal oversight, execute tasks in the equipment development project including the purchasing and implementation of standard off the shelf solutions and/or development of new standard automation equipment solutions.
  2. Execute the hardware and software improvements of automated lines and off the shelf equipment, via the analysis of Overall Equipment Efficiency (OEE) and other available data.
  3. Liaise with multiple stakeholders including solution providers for design, technical information and specifications.
  4. Support correcting of technical problems impacting equipment validation activities associated with Factory Acceptance Test (FAT) and Site Acceptance Test (SAT).
  5. Execute and optimize/improve maintenance plans and activities.
  6. Support customer product road map using Celestica Automation E2E process and tools such as User Requirement Specifications (URS) and Design for Automation Assembly (DFAA) and PM workbook.
  7. Drive problem solving and corrective actions related to causes of machine failures, speed loss or quality issues.
  8. Work with Process Engineering to ensure equipment is statistically capable of meeting the product manufacturing requirements.

Physical Demands

Duties of this position are performed in a normal office environment. Duties may require extended periods of sitting and sustained visual concentration on a computer monitor or on numbers and other detailed data. Repetitive manual movements (e.g., data entry, using a computer mouse, using a calculator, etc.) are frequently required. Occasional travel may be required.

Typical Experience
  • 1 to 3 years of related experience; Experience in similar job roles.
Typical Education

Bachelor degree or consideration of an equivalent combination of education and experience. Educational Requirements may vary by Geography.
