MSS Operations NFR team is an internal risk and control management function primarily responsible for ensuring that risks within Markets Operations are managed within risk appetite. It is a global, and cross asset-class, function that works closely with Control Owners in ensuring that key controls are adequate in mitigating our material risks. The function is broadly responsible for evaluating risks, monitoring, reviewing, and testing both the design and operation of key controls, driving consistency of the internal control framework across locations where there is a Markets and Securities Services (MSS) presence, ensuring adherence to risk & control policies, reinforcing control culture and directing control awareness activities, and ensuring that Operations management are accountable for their risks and taking action on a timely basis to remediate.
**The Opportunity**:
The role is within the Business aligned NFR function and is in charge of providing a 1st Line of Defence risk advise, challenge and operational support to the business over the management of Market Ops risk and control environment. The role will be responsible for executing the control agenda for teams in Operational Hubs.
**What you’ll do**:
The NFR Agenda/Activities will include, but is not limited to:
- Control improvement and risk mitigation,
- Second / Third Line of Defence (LoD) Review,
- Policy and Regulatory Guidance,
- Risk and Control Profile Management, and
- Change Risk Management
The role holder should have extensive experience in a control function as well as having good working knowledge of the GFX / Cash Management / Nostro Funding processes. They must be able to understand risks associated with these processes.
Requirements
**What you will need to succeed in the role**:
- Analytical and detail orientated.
- Good understanding and working knowledge of Settlements & Nostro funding function - detailed experience in this field can trump lack of controls experience
- Solid process, risk and people management skills.
- Appropriate personality, character and gravitas will be key.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to communicate complex issues succinctly and clearly
- Strong delivery focus is essential. The role requires a proactive and articulate individual, comfortable with dealing with senior management and able to deliver key messages and tailor output to the audience
- Current GCB5 essential
**What additional skills will be good to have?**
- Proven skills and knowledge of Global Markets Operations functions (especially GFX / Nostro Funding / Cash Management) and Operational, Market and Credit Risk.
