Yayasan Malaysiakini was registered in July 2023, with the objective of promoting press freedom through education and other activities. It leverages Malaysiakini’s audience reach, relationships and trust to achieve its objectives.

The Executive Director is the key executive leader of the foundation, and is responsible for the overall success in meeting the objectives, priorities and goals of the foundation.

**Hours: 4 days per week, including two days (preferably Tue, Wed) in office**

**Duration: 11 months, Nov 1st, to Sept 30th, 2024**

**Tenure: Renewable based on available funding and performance**

**Reporting to: Foundation Board**

**Key Responsibilities**
- **Leadership and Vision**: To develop and implement strategies to ensure the organization's long-term success and sustainability.
- **Team & Resource Management **:Allocate and manage resources, including project teams, to ensure project objectives are met within the defined budget and timeline.
- **Program Development**: To manage and plan each program and/or events in accordance with the annual work plan of the foundation
- **Board of Directors **:Execute actions as instructed by the director or by the board, in accordance with the annual work plan ,followed by providing regular updates to the board.
- **Community and Stakeholder Engagement**: Ensure regular updates to foundation members. Representing the foundation in public engagements.
- **Compliance and Risk Management**: Ensure compliance to statutory regulations when governing foundations and ensure the organization complies with all applicable laws and regulations. Identify potential risks and develop mitigation strategies. Monitor and address issues that may impact project delivery.
- **Project Tracking and Reporting **:Ensure to monitor project’s progress and generate reports for stakeholders.
- **Fundraising and Financial Management**: To prepare and submit a full program report in compliance with grant and board requirements.

The annual work plan shall include:

- Fundraising activities through grant proposals, corporate donations, public campaigns etc
- Developing partnerships, educational opportunities, training programs, conferences that promote professional journalism and media activities

**Qualifications**

(1) A bachelor's degree is required, and a master's degree in a relevant field (such as nonprofit management, business administration, or public administration) is an added advantage.

(2) Several years of relevant leadership experience, including nonprofit management, is usually required. Experience in a similar role is a significant advantage.

(3) Strong leadership and management skills, including the ability to inspire and motivate a team, set strategic direction, and make tough decisions.

(4) Knowledge of financial management, budgeting, and fundraising techniques.

(5) Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to engage with diverse stakeholders, donors, and the media.

(6) The ability to build and maintain relationships with a wide range of stakeholders, including board members, donors, and community leaders.

(7) A commitment to upholding ethical standards and complying with all relevant laws and regulations.

(8) Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills to address complex issues that may arise.

**Salary**: RM7,000.00 - RM8,000.00 per month
