**APPLIED AGRICULTURAL RESOURCES Sdn. As a leading research centre in tropical plantation crops, our core activities involve research in crop improvement and production, providing advisory services for plantation crops, as well as the production and sale of oil palm tissue culture ramets and seeds.

**Role**:
As a Sustainability Research Officer, you will play a crucial role in analysing and evaluating the sustainability of oil palm cultivation practices. Your primary focus will be on conducting life cycle assessments, with particular emphasis on carbon budget and sequestration. You will analyse trends in data and assess the impact of agronomic management practices on carbon budgets, aiming to optimise sustainability in the oil palm industry.

**Achievements to-date**
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Environmental Science, Sustainability, Agricultural Sciences, or a related field.
- Strong background in sustainability research, with a focus on life cycle assessment methodologies.
- Knowledge of carbon budgeting and sequestration principles, preferably with experience in analysing agricultural systems.
- Proficiency in data analysis and statistical methods, with experience using relevant software tools.
- Strong analytical skills, with the ability to interpret and communicate complex data effectively.
- Experience working in oil palm plantations or similar agricultural settings is preferred.

**Additional requirements**:

- Good command of spoken and written English.
- Possess strong interpersonal, analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Willing to travel extensively.

**Responsibilities**:

- Conduct life cycle assessments to evaluate the environmental impact of oil palm cultivation practices.
- Analyse carbon budgets and sequestration rates associated with oil palm production, identifying opportunities for improvement.
- Study trends in data and assess the impact of agronomic management practices on carbon budgets and soil health.
- Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to develop and implement sustainability policies and initiatives.
- Generate reports and presentations to communicate research findings and recommendations to relevant stakeholders.
- Stay updated on emerging trends and developments in sustainability research, particularly in the context of oil palm cultivation.

**Remuneration**:
Pay: RM4,700.00 - RM6,450.00 per month
