About the Role
1. Responsible to ensure that the following AIA entities fulfil the legal and regulatory objectives and requirements on safety and health, relating but not limited to Department of Occupational Health and Safety (DOSH), Ministry of Health (MOH), Bank Negara Malaysia (BNM), Managed Care (MCO) regulators, local municipal councils and other government agencies:
- AIA Bhd.
- AIA PUBLIC Takaful Bhd.
- AIA General Berhad
- AIA Health Services Sdn Bhd.
- AIA Pension Asset Management Sdn Bhd.
2. Being the authorized representative of all entities under AIA Malaysia to liaise with the authorities and regulatory bodies on health and safety related matters which includes attending meetings, inspections, communications and reporting.
3. Responsible for developing, implementing, and overseeing safety and health protocols, standards and procedures for all AIA Malaysia entities.
4. Responsible to ensure that staff and life planners are properly informed and observe the necessary regulatory requirements, emergency preparedness and related protocols for health and safety in workplace.
Policy, Standard and Compliance
- Develop and implement policies and procedures relating to safety and health in workplace in accordance with OSHA 1994 standards and requirements.
- Work closely with REI, Building Security and Business Continuity Management team to ensure compliance in accordance with Corporate Security policies and procedures.
- Drive compliance to the OSH framework and processes and other related regulations, and work closely with all functions to ensure effective and timely response to all matters.
- Continually review the existing policies and procedures to ensure they are up to date and aligned with regulatory changes.
OSH
- Implement a strong occupational safety and health program in workplace that amplifies AIA's stance on a robust occupational safety culture as advisor to the OSH Committee in ensuring the activities, implementation and meetings are conducted as per the requirements, relevant reports and updates are prepared accordingly and raised issues are followed through until resolution
- Collaborate with management to plan and implement safety protocol, plan and budget.
Training and Educational Program
- Conduct mandatory training and program to further integrate sustainability obligations in relation to safety and health in workplace.
- Conduct periodic Floor Warden briefings.
Workplace Inspections, Reporting and Regulatory Liaison
- Perform safety audits and identify possible safety issues by working with REI and Building Security to ensure physical inspection of work areas are done timely and as per schedule.
- Conduct workplace inspection to ensure compliance to safety guidelines thus making workplace a safe place to work in, annually for Head Office and once in two years for branches by collaborating with the branch heads, REI and Building Security.
- Ensure compliance with the requirements stipulated under OSHA 1994 and all other related regulations and ensuring that effective and timely monitoring is carried out and ensuring that the Health and Safety documentations at branches are in order and attend all inspection visits by DOSH and make sure that all matters are resolved.
- Being the point of contact and pro-actively engage with the authorities and DOSH in particular by planning and conducting necessary visits and ensure requirements are met and all matters are resolved.
- Provide accurate and timely report and update on safety and health awareness, issues, and statistics.
Job Requirements:
- Minimum a Bachelor's Degree in Business Management/ Risk Management/ Law or related field.
- Minimum 5 years relevant experience, preferably within an organization having multiple operating sites.
- Knowledge of environmental, health and safety regulations would be an advantage.
- Must possess strong coordination, presentation, organization and liaison skills.
- Clear and effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Proven ability and commitment to being discreet, tactful and timely when addressing internal and external customers’ needs.
- Knowledge and understanding of relative bodies of law.
- Good command of English and Bahasa Malaysia.
