**Department**:Research Development & Engineering (RD&E)

As an Associate, Chemistry, you will work with cross-functional team to successfully create and launch new products or product improvements in an accelerated manner for Home Cleaning products in support of SC Johnson (SCJ) global brands. You will develop formulations that will drive new products, line extensions, and lead technology advancements resulting in consumer preferred benefits. You will participate in cross functional teams under the supervision of a Global RD&E Manager.

**Essential Duties and Responsibilities**:

- Formulate new products from concept to completion. Work as a member of a fast-paced cross-functional project team to create new products or product improvements that address consumer user criteria, needs, and insights
- Develop formulations to meet SCJ standards and industry best practices, and in line with corporate sustainability goals, write and/or review procedures, protocols, and specifications needed to support product development activities, and execute all technical validation testing requirements on new formulas and packages
- Work closely with cross functional team members on ensuring quality scale up of laboratory formulas, including supporting pilot batches and first production runs
- Design and conduct product performance testing to substantiate claims and benefits, develop creative and impactful technical demos to visualize product design benefits and claims
- Lead and perform competitive assessments, assist in the interpretation of consumer test results and lab data, and identifying product improvements and claims, assist in technology advancements and development of innovative new products with technical curiosity, Design and execute fundamental studies to investigate the technical feasibility of brining novel disruptive solutions to market
- Utilize knowledge Design of Experiment (DOE) and statistics to efficiently select and recommend appropriate course(s) of action to meet business needs understand the functional properties, proper use, environmental impact of ingredients, and performance attributes of product formulations
- Work with multiple product types, interact closely with marketing and consumers to research and translate user needs into consumer-preferred solutions and critical product attributes
- May help determine the appropriate approach/develop new method for new assignments with deep technical expertise
- Act as an informal resource for colleagues with less experience, may assist in formal training or orientation, follow good laboratory practices, all safety regulations, and maintain a clean, orderly work area

**Required Skills / Experience / Competencies**:

- Minimum of 1 - 2 years of experience in related field
- Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry or Chemical Engineering
- Fluent in English & Bahasa Malaysia
