- **What you’ll do**_
- Reporting to the Legal Director of Commercial / Corporate, you will be an important member of our team of corporate and commercial lawyers.
- You will assist the Legal Director with the recruitment of the team and its overall development.
- You and your team will handle on-going commercial, contracts, M&A, partnership and related matters globally.
- You will also be responsible for addressing commercial contracts risk within the company and introducing and implementing measures to mitigate and reduce such risk.
- Where appropriate, you will be representing Bitget before commercial parties in negotiations.
- You will lead the efforts to manage external law firms including their engagement, review of their work, review and approval of fees and on-going matter-management to ensure the best results for Bitget.
- You will represent the legal team before internal stakeholders to provide robust, commercially sensible, accurate and practical advice and to manage their expectations throughout the life of the matter.
- Support the Legal Director of the team in their work as well as the business teams in their efforts to grow the company.
- You will seek efficient automated methods to scale-up contracts support for the company.
- Manage corporate secretarial matters for the company including the set-up, dissolution and management of group companies and directors.
- Engage in training for the company to increase legal awareness throughout the organisation on how to manage regulatory risk sensibly.
- **What you’ll need**_
- Qualified lawyer with at least 5 years of legal PQE experience from a leading common law jurisdiction.
- Experience from an in-house from a reputable in-house organisation is a must. Prior experience with a top-tier law firm is highly valued.
- Located in APAC time-zone with Malaysia being preferred jurisdictions.
- Experience and knowledge of financial products (including spot trading, copy trading, margins, derivatives and options) and commercial transactions essential.
- Track-record of leading teams and commercial matters (including strategic partnerships, M&A and JVs) from beginning-to-end.
- Knowledge of the current legal operations efficiency methods to re-design the contracts flow.
- Experience with procurement teams and terms is a plus.
- Start-up experience is preferred, especially demonstrable experience in handling complex legal matters in fast-paced and exacting situations.
- Experience and knowledge of the crypto-regulatory environment and advising on product launches is highly valued.
- Has the ability to work independently and make tough decisions
- Hands on at work and can be independent in managing complex projects.
- Excellent legal drafting and interpretation skills.
- Excellent command of written and spoken English, fluency in Mandarin highly preferred to be able to work with regional markets.
