**Number of Positions**: across all disciplines

**Event Groups**: Sprints/Relays, Hurdles, Middle Long Distance, Jumps (Long jump, Triple jump, High Jump, Pole Vault), Throws (Hammer, Discus, Javelin, Shot Put), Race Walking

**Location**: East / West Malaysia

**Reporting to**: Coaching and Development Committee of MAF, Working Committee of Athletics Program MSN

**Introduction**
- Development coaches seeking opportunities to grow in their coaching careers are also encouraged to apply.
- Coaching location is not necessarily required to be based in KL at MSN if applicants can demonstrate their talent pool at their specific existing location to justify as a national training out centre.

**About the Role**

The National Athletics Coach will form effective relationships to:

- Perform as a coach to assigned athletes and event disciplines for the National Podium and Pelapis Kerbangsaan program.
- Collaborate with Institute Sukan Negara (ISN) Performance Support Staff to maximise their impact on athletes' Daily Training Environments (DTEs).
- Provide coaching excellence in technical, physical, psychological, and well-being aspects.
- Transfer knowledge to support regional/local pathway programs.
- Participate in MAF and MSN coach meetings and activities.
- Provide content for monthly reporting and undertake roles with national teams.
- Demonstrated organisational, planning, and communication skills in coaching, focusing on implementing programs, guiding, supporting, and monitoring athlete performance.
- Experience working with a High-Performance Service team.
- Relevant qualification as a Track & Field Athletics Accredited Coach or similar experience.
- Knowledge of current event trends, competitions, and performance planning strategies.
- Tertiary qualifications in sports coaching or sports science.
- Professional coaching experience.

**Selection Criteria (Ideal Requirements)**
- Good standing with MAF and program partners.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, including establishing good relationships and working with a diverse group of stakeholders.
- Knowledge and experience within an integrated athletics high-performance system.
- Significant coaching experience at state, national, and international levels.
- Advanced planning knowledge and implementation skills demonstrating an advanced applied understanding of the physical, technical, tactical, and psychological considerations for elite athletics performance.
- Ability to handle pressure and opposition while maintaining stable performance.
- Understanding of athlete standards and demands in high-performance sports.
- Experience working with a High-Performance service team.
- National Police/Criminal History Check.
- Working with Children/Working with Vulnerable People Check.

**Selection Criteria (Desirable)**
- Relevant Coaching Accreditation.
- World Athletics (WA) or similar Accredited Coach status.
- Sports coaching or Sports Science degree.
- Driver's License.

**Key Responsibilities**
- Organise and conduct six (6) monthly athlete reviews and planning meetings, capturing, collating, and storing information required for the JKK meetings (as agreed by MSN and MAF) to determine their levels of support for the following year.
- Establish and maintain an Athletics performance culture.
- Personalised training plans and reviews for the athletes to enable understanding and provide advice for the athlete regarding their current training status, technical and tactical strengths and weaknesses, medium and long-term training and competition plans.
- Lead formal meetings regularly with the athlete and key performance team members (e.g., physiotherapist, S&C, sports psychologist) regarding the identified gaps to podium priorities driving all coaching and athlete decisions to achieve performance outcomes.
- Facilitate the use of sports science and sports medicine to maximise training availability and enhance performance, aligned with the athlete performance plan and identified Gap-to-Podium Priorities.
- Attend local, state, and national athletic competitions as required and keep current with relevant athlete performances and rankings at the local, state, national, and international levels.
- Deliver State coaching clinics and Pathway Programs (Schedule permitting).
- Identify local talent and support research initiatives.
- Promote a high-performance culture and compliance with policies.

- Provide the expertise and resources to build a successive high-achieving athletics sports environment in coaching and athletic performance.
- Create a leading pathway in athletics for National and International representation.
- Achieve medals at SEA, Asian, Commonwealth, and Olympic Games
- Finish as the top nation on the SEA Games athletics medal table
