Process Development Engineer - Mold Development Expert

As a key member of the Amphenol Communications Solutions team, the Process Development Engineer - Mold Development Expert will provide expert advice and guidance on New Product Design activities, focusing on Design for Manufacturability (DFM), Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA), design inputs, and suggestions related to plastic molding tools.

The successful candidate will be responsible for performing mold flow analysis using CAE software, optimizing product and process architecture to reduce warpage, eliminate blisters, and prevent material degradation.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Developing new mold designs in accordance with company standards
  • Coordinating with the tooling team for tooling design, debug, and qualification
  • Collaborating with suppliers for mold specifications, quotations, reviews, and follow-ups
  • Documenting and updating new mold design drawings, FAI/Cmk, and other mold buyoff trial run reports
  • Publishing key technical learnings and recommended practices for future NPD risk reduction and FMEA
  • Exploring and implementing new technologies and innovations in the Mold/Molding Department to reduce cost, quality, and lead time
  • Supporting molding production in terms of mold improvements and pre-production runs

The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in mold design, fabrication, and development, with a minimum of 10 years of experience in the field. A degree in Mechanical Engineering, Plastic Processing Engineering, or equivalent is required. Expertise in Moldflow CAE software and a working knowledge of technologies associated with two-color molding are highly desirable.

The Process Development Engineer - Mold Development Expert will be a team player, able to synergize with the New Product R&D team and communicate effectively with a cross-geographical supplier base in China. Proficiency in 2D/3D CAD software and CAE software specific to mold development is essential.
