Senior Business Development Director (Broking)

GREAT EASTERN, a well-established market leader and trusted brand in Singapore and Malaysia, seeks a Senior Business Development Director to lead its employee benefits broking channel. With over S$100 billion in assets and more than 16 million policyholders, the company provides insurance solutions through three successful distribution channels – a tied agency force, bancassurance, and financial advisory firm Great Eastern Financial Advisers.

The Role:

  1. Manage the GID-EB broking team to achieve personal sales targets by developing renewal and new business.
  2. Drive business development of GID-EB through the broking channel to achieve business targets.
  3. Track sales performance and key initiatives to prepare weekly sales reports.
  4. Oversee day-to-day distribution support and activities for existing corporate clients to achieve overall sales and profitability targets.
  5. Assist in organizing events, health talks, and employee briefings for corporate clients.
  6. Pursue projects or initiatives that will further grow the direct EB business.
  7. As part of the leadership team, collaborate with stakeholders to proactively shape the organization's culture and conduct environment aligned to the organization's Core Values.
  8. Champion culture and conduct behavioral expectations within the Department/Division.
  9. Comply with Credit Control Procedure (CCP).
  10. Take accountability for considering business and regulatory compliance risks and take appropriate steps to mitigate the risks.
  11. Maintain awareness of industry trends on regulatory compliance, emerging threats, and technologies to understand the risk and better safeguard the company.
  12. Highlight any potential concerns/risks and proactively share best risk management practices.
  13. Other responsibilities as required.

The Person:

  1. Education – Degree or Diploma in Insurance, Business Studies & Marketing.
  2. Minimum of 7 years of work experience preferably in marketing or sales in the financial industry.
  3. Good communication skills - written and verbal.
  4. Industry practices & knowledge on competitors & their products.
  5. Flexible in terms of time for training/product or project launches or events during weekends, public holidays, and after office hours.
  6. Managerial skills – experience in managing a sales team.
  7. Perception and attentiveness – entails identifying problems, organizing information meaningfully, and shifting between multiple activities or sources of information.
  8. Demonstrates alignment with the organization's core values through expected behaviors.
  9. Result-driven – signifies that when working on projects, always look to provide the best results.
  10. High level of integrity, accountability of work, and a good attitude towards teamwork.
  11. Takes initiative to improve the current state of things and is adaptable to embrace new changes.
