Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Public Diplomacy and Social Media Officer to join our team at Time's Group. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and implementing a comprehensive public diplomacy strategy to increase visibility and understanding of Ireland across Malaysia.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and execute a public diplomacy plan to promote Ireland's interests and values in Malaysia;
  • Manage and maintain the Embassy's social media presence, creating engaging content and interacting with followers;
  • Conduct media monitoring, analysis, and reporting to inform public diplomacy efforts;
  • Collaborate with the diplomatic team to plan and execute events, including logistics and stakeholder engagement;
  • Build and maintain relationships with key partners, including journalists, media outlets, and community groups;
  • Liaise with Department of Foreign Affairs HQ and state agencies on campaigns and initiatives;
  • Ensure compliance with Department policies and procedures;
  • Support the delivery of the Embassy's objectives and regional strategy;
  • Contribute to administration and other work as required.
Requirements
  • Fluency in written and spoken English and Bahasa Melayu;
  • 2 years of previous professional experience in a role with related responsibilities;
  • Academic certification in relevant disciplines such as communications, marketing, journalism, or media studies;
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, persuasiveness, ability to work in a team and autonomously;
  • Strong organisational skills, attention to detail, ability to work under pressure and to manage multiple tasks;
  • Ability to adapt approach if necessary, and commitment to delivering results;
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and social media management platforms;
  • High level of discretion and ability to work in sensitive situations;
  • Permanent legal right to reside and work in Malaysia.
Desirable Skills and Experience
  • Working knowledge of Mandarin;
  • Knowledge of Ireland;
  • Good understanding of the role of the Department of Foreign Affairs of Ireland and the Embassy of Ireland Malaysia;
  • Previous experience in a diplomatic mission.
Terms and Conditions
  • 12 month fixed term contract with the option to renew based on satisfactory performance;
  • Based at the Irish Embassy in Kuala Lumpur;
  • Office hours are 9:00 - 17:00, Monday to Friday, with some evening and weekend work required;
  • Annual Leave entitlement 21 days per annum;
  • Gross salary MYR 48,497.34 per annum, paid locally on a monthly basis;
