As a Product Design and Development Specialist, you will play a crucial role in the sustaining engineering of products produced at VAT-MY facilities. Your responsibilities will include supporting design-related activities throughout the product life cycle of product series.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Develop in-depth understanding of products including design, machining, assembly, and surrounding processes.
  2. Possess strong problem-solving skills, able to find root cause and implement short- and long-term measures.
  3. Take technical ownership of products, actively driving improvements and keeping them up-to-date.
  4. Support peers in topics like DFMEA/PFMEA, quality cases, escalations, audits, and more.
  5. Verify new design requirements from application and product management teams before distributing information to designers.
  6. Collaborate with customers and product managers to resolve product-related issues, including customer complaints and audits.
  7. Take ownership of dedicated products, including troubleshooting.
  8. Provide technical and quality support for operations.
  9. Contribute to Cost Improvement projects.
  10. Optimize product performance in collaboration with design engineers.
  11. Verify and optimize manufacturability with manufacturing departments, supply quality engineers, and project buyers.
  12. Support changes related to supply chain, manufacturing, and assembly processes.
  13. Lead investigations and analyses of problems, driving implementation of solutions for design-related issues escalated by customers.
  14. Work with designers to transform design ideas into executable plans.
  15. Estimate workload distribution (70% coordination & 30% design basis).
  16. Travel to customer sites as necessary to support field-related issues.

Requirements and Qualifications:

  1. Degree in mechanical engineering.
  2. Strong skills in 3D-CAD (NX preferable) and PLM systems, as well as MS-Office tools (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  3. Ability to work in a team and possess good communication skills, including English for cooperation with production and product management.
  4. Experience in project management (structured working method) is an added advantage.
  5. Enjoy working on strategic issues.
  6. Strong analytical skills.
  7. Experience in change management.
  8. Language comprehension (local language, English).
