**Job Summary:**

We are seeking an Economic Diplomat to join our team in Kuala Lumpur. As an Economic Diplomat, you will support our trade policy and market access work, working closely with colleagues, business and stakeholders to deliver our market access campaigns and objectives.

This is an exciting opportunity to develop your skills and expertise in economic diplomacy, while contributing to the growth of the bilateral trade relationship between the UK and Malaysia.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Monitor and report on trade policy developments in Malaysia and their potential impact on the UK, providing briefing and advice to DBT and other stakeholders.
  • Build relationships to deliver our market access campaigns and objectives, understanding and effectively collaborating with businesses, other nations and the Malaysian Government.
  • Maintain and update briefings of Malaysia's trade policy developments and key market access issues.
  • Network & HQ Relationships – coordinate closely with DBT in London and the APAC Market Access Counsellor in Tokyo, establishing and resolving market access barriers, and providing intelligence on wider market access and trade policy trends in Malaysia and SE Asia.
