Job SummaryWe are seeking a talented and experienced Chief Financial Officer (CFO) to join our senior management team. The successful candidate will play a key role in consolidating subsidiaries, improving operational effectiveness and efficiency, and driving the company's continued growth via organic growth initiatives and additional acquisitions.
Key ResponsibilitiesStrategy, Planning, and Leadership- Develop and Implement Financial Strategy: Provide strong leadership as a member of the executive team, including strategic vision and tactical execution to drive revenue growth, profitability, and capital. Define the finance strategy and lead the corporate and project finance team.
- Ensure Governance and Compliance: Ensure a governance structure is in place to achieve sustainably effective and efficient operational execution that increases shareholder value and facilitates employee and organizational well-being.
- Lead Deal Negotiations: Devise deal strategy and lead negotiations with financing parties for the Company's project portfolio, including construction and term debt as well as monetization of assets and incentives if applicable.
- Enhance Finance Team Execution: Evaluate and identify areas for improvement within the finance team and enhance execution, profitability, and efficiency.
- Manage Financing Needs: Determine financing needs for debt and/or equity financing. Devise deal strategy and lead negotiations with financing parties for the Company's project portfolio, including construction and term debt as well as monetization of assets and incentives if applicable.
- Complete Term Financing Deals: Responsible for completion of and compliance with all term financing deals, including corporate, project, equipment/asset financing, and lease arrangements.
- Manage Transaction Execution: Manage the transaction execution and financial closing process for multiple projects at various stages of development as well as corporate guarantees, letters of credit, and other facilities, as needed.
- Evaluate and Approve M&A Transactions: Evaluate and approve M&A transactions and assist in negotiations.
- Refine Financial Models: Oversee the continual refinement of the company's project and enterprise-level financial models. Oversee the handoff process between project finance, operations, and asset management and improve transaction efficiency.
- Support Project Development: Support project development and acquisition efforts by partnering with other internal business units (origination, development, operations, legal) to internalize financing conditions and requirements into company processes.
- Expand Investor Relationships: Expand the Company's relationships with new and existing renewable energy project investors.
- Ensure Insurance Coverage: Ensure the company's and all subsidiaries and affiliates maintain appropriate levels of general liability, cyber security, D&O, and other relevant insurance coverages and ensure the proper and timely handling of relevant insurance claims.
- Manage Financial Planning and Analysis: Manage the internal and external financial planning, analysis, and reporting requirements, including directing the annual budgeting and forecasting process.
- Track and Analyze Performance: Track and analyze the Company's performance to budget and update projections throughout the year.
- Oversee Financial Reporting: Oversee the creation and distribution of the Company's regular financial reports, including monthly profit and loss, forecast vs. budget, and weekly cash flow management.
- Present Financial Reports: Present monthly financial reports to the Executive Management team and Board of Directors. Communicates financial performance updates and comments to relevant stakeholders including lenders and shareholders.
- Interface with Owner Team: Interface with the owner team to provide updates and respond to information requests.
- Oversee Tax and Accounting Function: Oversee the Tax and Accounting function, including the preparation of the Company's annual audit.
- Ensure Internal Controls and Compliance: Review and ensure the application of appropriate internal controls, and external compliance.
- Ensure Timely and Accurate Reporting: Ensure timeliness and accuracy of financial and management reporting data.
- Prepare and File Tax Returns: Oversee the preparation and timely filing of all local, state, and federal tax returns.
- Sign Off on Closing Activities: Sign off on all month-end closing activities, including general ledger accounts, balance sheet accounts, and overhead cost allocation.
- Develop Risk Management Policies: In coordination with the company's General Counsel and other team members, develop and implement effective risk management policies and systems.
- 15+ Years of Financial Leadership Experience: 15+ years of experience in financial leadership roles with five years of previous CFO experience.
- Proven Track Record in Raising Project & Corporate Financing: Proven track record raising project & corporate financing.
- Strong Financial Structuring and Deal-Making Experience: Strong financial structuring and deal-making experience, including evaluating complex revenue structures.
- Relevant Experience in Energy Storage or Renewable Energy: Relevant experience in energy storage or renewable energy with a top-tier renewable energy developer, bank, or investor.
- Subject Matter Expertise in Tax Equity & Project Finance Structures: Subject matter expertise with tax equity & project finance structures & tracking models.
- Experience in Leading Corporate and Project Budgeting and Forecasting: Experience in leading corporate and project budgeting and forecasting.
- Top-Level Communication and Presentation Skills: Top-level communication and presentation skills.
- Demonstrated Leadership Ability: Demonstrated leadership ability, confidence, and ability to motivate staff.
- Excellent Analytical Reasoning and Problem-Solving Skills: Excellent analytical reasoning and problem-solving skills. Master's degree in business, accounting, finance, or related field is preferred.
