Job Summary

  • This is a senior process engineer position within our manufacturing team at II-VI UK, Ltd. responsible for leading process yield improvements.

About the Role

  • We are seeking a highly skilled process engineer to join our team with a focus on process yield optimization.

Main Responsibilities

  • The successful candidate will be responsible for establishing process capability and capacity/productivity models.
  • They will also improve success rates and control scrap costs for various product lines.
  • Enhance alignment process engineering capacity for DR8 Gen1/Gen1.5 and BBLC Gen2 to achieve higher yield.
  • Focus on process yield, scrap reduction, and HPU improvement for 400G below, SWDM, and other legacy product lines.
  • Responsible for the process yields of the designated process and to establish and implement actions to improve the yields.
  • Conduct gage repeatability & reliability studies and correlation studies, generating reaction plans for OOC situations.
  • Assist manufacturing personnel in operator training, qualification, improving operator utilization and productivity, as well as inventory reduction.
  • Communicate effectively with peers to enhance teamwork.
  • Derive continual improvement and optimal use of resources.
  • Perform other duties as directed by the immediate superior.
  • Practice risk-based thinking in planning and execution of tasks.
  • Comply with ISO requirements, company rules & regulations, and applicable codes.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Science/Engineering, preferably in Electronics, Photonics, Mechanical, or Mechatronics.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in a related industry and in a mass production environment; experience in fiber optic transceiver manufacturing is advantageous.
  • Good computer literacy, especially in SPC-related applications.
  • Strong data analytical skills and a hands-on working attitude.
  • Adaptable and flexible to rapid changes in business needs.
  • Knowledge of mechanical dimensioning & tolerancing analysis and poka-yoke principles is advantageous.
