About the Role

D&B Technology Engineering Group is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Principal Risk and Safety Consultant to join our team in Kuala Lumpur. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for delivering technical safety engineering services, including design, specification, and services, to support our clients in the oil and gas industry.

Key Responsibilities
  • Technical Safety Engineering: Provide technical safety engineering services, including design, specification, and services, to support our clients in the oil and gas industry.
  • Project Delivery: Manage the execution of technical safety work scopes in the pre-FEED, FEED, and Execute Phases of Projects.
  • Team Leadership: Provide direction and technical guidance to subordinates to support project delivery.
  • Deliverables Review: Review and approve technical safety engineering deliverables.
  • Workshop Facilitation: Facilitate technical safety workshops (e.g. HAZID & ALARP) with multidisciplinary teams.
  • Safety Assurance: Support the assurance process for closure of safety-related actions.
  • Formal Safety Assessments: Undertake formal safety assessments and input to the preparation of safety cases.
  • Specification and Review: Prepare specifications and vendor document reviews for safety equipment and systems.
  • Workshop Participation: Actively participate in workshops including HAZOPs, LOPAs, Design Reviews, and Constructability Reviews.
  • Client Liaison: Liaise with client subject matter experts/technical authorities.
  • Technical Deviations: Manage technical deviations in accordance with established procedures.
  • Change Management: Input to the management of change processes.
Requirements
  • Education: An engineering degree with a minimum of 12 years of experience.
  • Experience: Experience working on upstream and downstream oil and gas projects including offshore developments in SEA and the North Sea.
  • Leadership Skills: Proven leadership skills.
  • Technical Expertise: Experience in the following areas:
    • Concept Select/Definition, FEED, and Detailed Design
    • Application of ALARP and inherent safety in design principles
    • Formal Safety Assessment and Safety Case Preparation
    • Design and specification of safety systems and equipment (including F&G detection, hazardous area classification, active/passive fire protection, escape/evacuation systems)
    • Familiarity with local and international safety regulations, safety engineering codes and standards, and industry good practice
    • Brownfields engineering experience will be an advantage
  • Consultancy Experience: Preferable with third-party specialist/consultancy work experience.
