Job Overview:

The Senior Manager Project Engineering plays a pivotal role in driving departmental plans, encompassing business, production, and organizational priorities. This position demands expertise across multiple disciplines and the ability to comprehend industry trends to achieve financial and operational objectives. The Senior Manager Project Engineering oversees multiple related teams, establishes their organizational priorities, and allocates suitable resources.

This senior leadership role requires the ability to identify and resolve complex technical, operational, and organizational problems. Directly impacting business results, the Senior Manager Project Engineering supports function-specific projects, products, services, and technologies while developing policies and plans.

Candidates with strong Project Engineering Manager experience of at least two new build FPSOs from Concept to Commissioning, focusing on Topsides Detailed Design and Engineering, are highly desirable.

The Senior Manager Project Engineering provides leadership to managers and professional staff within the Project Engineering discipline. They are accountable for the performance and results of multiple related teams; their decisions are guided by resource availability and functional objectives of the Project Engineering discipline.

Essential Qualifications and Education:

  • An advanced degree from an accredited university in an engineering discipline is mandatory.
  • A minimum of 20 years of experience and proven leadership experience in Project Engineering and/or Engineering Management are required.
  • Possession of a Registered Engineer certification or membership in a professional engineering society is preferred.
  • Broad technical knowledge of detailed design engineering codes and standards is essential.
  • Familiarity with detailed engineering and design work procedures and processes is necessary.
  • The ability to read and understand contractual documentation is crucial.
  • Effective communication and leadership skills to lead engineers and non-engineers are vital.
  • Field assignment experience and familiarity with International Projects are advantageous.
  • Experience with multi-office (MOPEX) execution and Joint Venture or Consortium Group participation is beneficial.
  • Developing proposals and contractual documentation experience is valuable.
  • Action as a PMT for projects and experience in revamping (Brownfield) and grassroots (Greenfield) projects are highly desirable.

Key Tasks and Responsibilities:

  • Manage the engineering scope of a project to ensure quality and technical content requirements are met.
  • Establish and implement project procedures to guarantee deliverables meet quality and technical content requirements through contract documents.
  • Oversee the technical execution to support business considerations established for the project.
  • Responsible for the administration and technical management of the department.
  • Assign staffing for Project Engineering positions on projects and proposals.
  • Instill and promote a 'Safety as a Value' culture.
  • Administrative and technical management of the Project Engineering Department:
    • Establish a budget and salary plan for the department.
    • Identify and recruit staff for Project Engineering positions.
    • Maintain staffing levels appropriate to the projected workload.
    • Provide leadership and training for the professional development of staff.
    • Identify and correct performance gaps.
    • Maintain Company processes and procedures related to Project Execution.
  • Allocate resources to provide quality, on-time, and cost-effective deliverables for projects and proposals.
  • Responsible for the integrity of the work produced.
  • Responsible for cost, schedule, quantity, and budget control.
  • Ensure work is coordinated with other departments, offices, fabrication, and construction to meet project requirements.
  • Ensure proactive and effective management of change.
  • Monitor project performance and provide input and support as required.
  • Participate in monthly Project Reviews.
  • Execute Project Engineering Assessment (PEA) for Project Engineering.
  • Support proposal development.
  • Support the Lessons Learned process and continuous improvement initiatives of the company.
