Job Summary

We are seeking a seasoned Strategic IT Director to lead our Enterprise Architecture team at AIA Malaysia. This role will drive the execution and planning of our IT roadmap, aligning it with our organization's overall business strategy.

The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in IT architecture, preferably in a supervisory or leadership role, with a proven track record of managing teams, IT strategies, and large-scale cross-functional projects.

About the Role
  • Design and document To-Be Enterprise Architecture aligned with our company's business strategy.
  • Leverage technology innovations and recommend cost-effective solutions through proof-of-concepts (POCs).
  • Update architectural requirements based on industry trends and best practices.
  • Lead the adoption of new technologies and evaluate sustainable vendor solutions.

You will be responsible for organizing training to upskill our IT team in emerging technologies like Cloud, AI, and DevOps, as well as leading the development and maintenance of our Enterprise Architecture Governance Framework in alignment with Group standards and regulatory requirements.

In this role, you will oversee all Enterprise Architecture review sessions in-country and regionally, manage exception requests, ensuring alignment with Group standards and stakeholder approvals, and address technology obsolescence by creating actionable business cases.

Key Responsibilities
  • Work cross-functionally to ensure solutions align with enterprise architecture standards.
  • Recommend and implement scalable, reusable, and sustainable technical solutions.
  • Participate in key IT committees (e.g., IT Risk, Security, and Steering).
  • Continuously refine governance processes to address evolving business needs.
  • Develop and drive solution architecture blueprints for applications, data, security, and infrastructure pillars.

A Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or related fields is required; a Master's degree is preferred. You should have minimum 15 years of experience in IT architecture, with at least 10-12 years in a supervisory or leadership role.

  • In-depth knowledge of digital technologies such as Cloud, AI, and DevOps, with proven experience in steering complex IT solutions.
  • Exceptional influencing, consultation, negotiation, and communication skills to effectively engage with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Ability to convey complex technical concepts clearly and concisely to both technical and non-technical audiences.

This role requires strong relationships with senior leaders and external partners. The successful candidate will be a strategic thinker with excellent leadership skills, able to inspire and motivate a high-performing team.
