Preparatory School Teacher

1. To uphold the values and the mission of MCM, and maintain them both inside and
outside the classroom.
2. To work closely with the Assistant Head of MCM Preparatory School (Pre-Prep
Department) in preparing Schemes of Work and regularly monitor the achievements and
progress of pupils.
3. To undertake the teaching of a designated class.
4. To plan appropriately to meet the needs of all pupils, through differentiation of tasks.
5. To be able to set clear targets, based on prior attainment, for pupils’ learning.
6. To provide a stimulating classroom environment, where resources can be accessed
appropriately by all pupils.
7. To keep appropriate and efficient records, integrating formative and summative
assessment into weekly and termly planning.
8. To maintain good order and discipline amongst all pupils, in accordance with the school's
behaviour policy.
9. To take part in and contribute to meetings that relate to teaching/curriculum; co-operate
with and, where appropriate, advise the Head and other colleagues in the review,
10. To attend meetings and participate as required e.g. Staff Meetings, Parents’ Meetings,
school social events.
11. To plan for, organise and direct the work of support staff within the classroom.
12. To attend relevant courses and to be aware of current trends in education.
13. To prepare assemblies when required.
14. To regularly report to parents on the development, progress and attainment of pupils, in
line with the Assessment Policy.
15. To take part in school events and activities which may take place at weekends or in the
evening.
16. To run and participate in meetings, school events and activities of a boarding school,
which may take place at weekends or in the evening.
17. To undertake supervisory duties e.g. break, lunchtime, team coaching duties.
18. To undertake the pastoral care of pupils and parents.
19. To assist with the physical needs of pupils e.g. dressing, changing shoes, sickness, soiling
and nose bleeds etc.
20. To participate in the performance management system for the appraisal of their own
performance.
21. To adhere to all policies (including Health and Safety and Child Protection) and to raise
any concerns to the appropriate person.
22. To undertake any duties or responsibilities deemed reasonable by the Head of the Pre
- Preparatory School, the Master of MCM or their representatives.

**Requirement**:

- A PGCE, UK Teaching Certificate.
- A degree awarded by a UK higher education institution or equivalent.
- Proven ability to relate to pupils and their parents/carers.
- The ability to convey your knowledge to the students in an engaging and understandable way. Inspirational teachers develop excellent communication skills through their work with young people and can teach the curriculum in a variety of ways to pupil who have diverse learning styles.
